Financially, mainly just keep on keeping on. I already max all tax advantaged accounts so I plan to continue. My efund is set, so nothing to do there. Since I'm within a few k, I'd love to hit $500k invested but that's mostly up to the market.

Not unless I'm intentionally thinking about them.

However, I do have some difficulty differentiating between memories and dreams that I recall from my early childhood.

Here are three examples of memories I have from a very young age. One is confirmed real by my parents. One as far as I can tell is physically impossible so must be a dream. And the third I have no clue if it is real or a dream.

  1. Shortly before my 3rd birthday, we moved. I remember getting bored while the moving truck was at our house so I rode my tricycle to the next door neighbors and hung out with the old lady and her dog until my mom realized I was missing and yelled at me for wandering off without telling her. (This one really happened)

  2. We were at the mall to meet my dad for lunch at the food court. As we got onto the escalator, I remembered I was able to fly and flew through the mall (it was similar to swimming but in air instead of water). (Obviously this had to have been a dream but it feels just as real of a memory as the first one).

  3. As long as I can remember, when we drove anywhere as a family, my spot was behind the driver's seat and my sister's spot was behind the passenger seat. I have a vivid memory/dream of it being reversed but my sister saying we should switch spots. My mom said ok and we switched to the standard positions. Nobody remembers this so it may have been a dream (and I would've been extremely young if it was real).

You should wait for the statement to pay your spending instead of covering it same day. Otherwise it's not reported to the credit agencies and it looks like you have no activity on your card.

Also, generally speaking some fluctuation from month to month is to be expected. I wouldn't worry too much about 10 points in either direction.

I just DIYed mine so it has everything I care about in it. Maybe it isn't the prettiest or easiest for others to understand, but it works for my purposes.

We took the dogs to run around at a park before the festivities. We were definitely the only people there.

Well that's horrifying

You need to have a conversation about timelines at the very least. This is not sustainable. Does her additional commitment have an end date? Or is there a way to move to less extreme hours as she gains seniority at her job?

Having a timeline for when things will return to a more normal amount of time together will make it easier in the meantime. Also, if you can agree to a date night where you disconnect from your devices and do something together at a regular schedule may help you keep from feeling as much relationship strain.

Walking my dog through the in-laws neighborhood today. Saw a house for sale and looked it up on Zillow. I could sell my house in a HCOL, and using only the gains since we bought 4 years ago, buy this house in cash. It's crazy how much geographic arbitrage matters. If we moved to a LCOL area, we would have no house payment and could retire now. Instead, we have approx. another decade to retirement, since we have no interest in moving.

Absolutely, they are both a part of the problem. However the former likely won't recognize they are a part of the problem because of the unconscious nature of their biases. So they won't ignore the data because they don't trust it, or whatever, but they won't recognize how their actions contribute to it.

In the case of unconscious bias, they probably brush off the data because they don't believe they are a part of the problem. It's those other doctors who are overtly racist that are the problem...

Wow. That is stunning!

Agreed. OP should allow the first dog some space when he wants it.

I know how to block entire communities in Lemmy and that certainly helps to clean up my feed. However, there are certain topics I really don't want to see, even though they are posted about in communities I am otherwise interested in.

For instance, if I'm a member of a community about whales, but I really don't want to see posts containing the word narwhal. Is there a way to block those posts while allowing everything else posted in that community from showing up? Is there a way to block posts from any community containing that word?

I've heard of the Camino de Santiago and was intrigued to see there are a lot more long walks around the world.

Has anyone here ever done this. I'm intrigued by the logistics of a trip like this, especially since the article describes trekkers only carry what they need for each day. Are there porters to take your things to each nights stop? Or do you wear the same clothes every day so you don't have extra bags and carry everything you'll need for the entire trip?

Part of me absolutely loves this picture, but part of me thinks maybe I should've done something differently. I'm interested to hear others thoughts.

Things I like:

  • I really like the contrast between the dark water and the brightness of the cliffside.
  • I also like the way the wake behind the boat appears

Things that could be improved:

  • Would it be better if the boat was on the right side of the frame? I feel like where it is right now cuts off some of the wake and detracts from the photo.

  • Also, while I like the division between light and dark, should it be framed higher so there is less of the water and more cliff? It just feels like a lot of the water is dead space to me.

Epee is the better weapon.

There aren't any pesky right of way rules to protect you. It's solely between the fencers. If you hit, you get a point. It's so beautiful in its simplicity. This also makes it more accessible for non-fencers to understand what is going on.

Also, you don't have to deal with pesky things like lames and ensuring there aren't dead spots. Who wants to wear even more layers when you're already a sweaty mess just wearing the normal protective gear.

So, c/fencing, I challenge you to change my view. Why are foil/saber better than epee?

One of my favorite parts of my day was reading through the daily thread on r/financialindependence. Anyone interested in having the same thing here?
