I don't have KDE so I can point you in the exact direction. But I think your problem is not about the resolution but about "overscan". TVs by default occlude a part of he screen, you should be able to change this behavior either through the TV menus or in the KDE settings.
Coming from keyboard and mouse, for me the trackpad is essential. I can't get used to the stick, but the trackpads always seemed natural.
That's the main reason why I won't ever consider a device like the ally without trackpads.
Maybe you should consider further regional prices. Here in Argentina it is U$S 20. I really want to support the app, but it is quite steep given our conversion rate and average income...
