The headline overreaches as the article doesn't support the passport dying as much as some early exploration into potential digital variants, and some convenience efforts to not have to show the passport.

Dying would be "most people use the digital variant, it's accepted everywhere and we're phasing out the paper variant".... which sounds like it might happen on the same timeline as large scale fusion energy

Oh, it's surprisingly common. There are even occasional bursts of people cutting out the middle-person and going for directly injecting people on the dance floor

It's scary out there

(and don't drive drunk kids; you're risking innocent lives because you're too cheap to get a cab. Not a good look)

Perhaps it was just a bird strike

In logic, finding a case where a statement isn't true is a very common and correct way to disprove that statement. So the proposition that "a woman has xx chromosomes and is born with a vagina", would actually be logically disproved by the counter-examples you bring up.

Then you can just use a conmon delimiter like comma or semicolon or something. It's better even as you're less likely to have something that seems to work until your exotic delimiter pops up in the data.

Better yet, use a commonly used data format like csv or json and don't build your own

They/them is extremely practical and I've yet to meet a non-binary person in real life who complains about the umbrella usage of it. Some people just want to be offended or want to police behaviour. They should stay on twitter.

Nice article!

Here's another on how to make your bash scripts more robust: https://www.davidpashley.com/articles/writing-robust-shell-scripts/

Getting into the habit of starting my scripts with set -ue has saved me a lot of time

I don't have a dog, but seeing a happy dog is a sure way to brighten my day!

Social media is terrible for this too. Spend any time on tiktok or youtube and it will at least try to serve you some light "men today have it so hard and it's women's fault" content. I imagine that if you bite, the algorithm will ramp it up.
