Democracy is the least worst political system devised so far, and that isn’t really high praise for it. Certain political ideologies are a literal existential threat not just to certain groups, but literally everyone on earth. It is reasonable to marginalize them to oblivion. Germany bans Nazis for this reason, and the modern Republican Party is goose-stepping to the same song. They are an existential threat, and do not deserve representation at any level.

Reddit is no longer accessible through Apollo. That’s really it.
Am I a heathen for running Gnome on Gentoo?
This isn’t working for me either.
Only snap app I have is Nextcloud on my Ubuntu-based VPS. It “just worked” as opposed to the manual install and automatically updates. Several years with minimal downtime (only for regular system upgrades and moving from one LTS release to the next), so it’s been very reliable actually. I use Flatpak for certain applications on my desktop since I don’t run Ubuntu on my personal computers. I haven’t had any bad practical experiences with either, but definitely understand those weary of Snap.
Most VPN services are a sham. They just hide your network activity from your ISP, however they have full visibility in to your network traffic. Some of these VPN providers are even owned by ad agencies, but advertise privacy as a selling point. You’re better off running your own WireGuard or OpenVPN server at home or with a VPS. At least you will have control over the server and limit your exposure to unscrupulous VPN companies. (Yes using a VPS is shifting the trust from one to the other, but you will have to make a decision that is right for you.)
I’ve already migrated from Twitter to Mastodon, Reddit to Lemmy, looks like I’ll have to test disabling my traffic to YouTube. I control what content reaches my eyes on my devices, not Google. That is a hard line for me.
How did they nail the Apollo look and feel in a web app? Incredible. Been on the Mlem testflight but this is just soooo familiar. I hope this gets an official app on the app store!
I haven't used LMMS so I can't really give you an opinion on it. They are both roughly the same age as far as maturity is concerned. I have no idea what is more widely used, but you'd be better served by using what works best for you rather than appealing to any type of perceived popularity.
Ardour for what it's worth has very powerful routing options and has been used as a base for Harrison Mixbus (which is extremely good by the way!). My only gripe with Ardour at the time I used it was that there was no dedicated MIDI editing window, everything was done in line in the MIDI track, which was a real pain. I don't know if this has been improved in the years since I used it, so I suggest you try both to see what fits your needs given that they are both open-source and freely available.
Personally, I have been a Reaper user for the past decade and don't see myself moving away from it in any significant capacity. If I had to give it up for some reason, I would suppose Harrison Mixbus/Ardour or Logic would be close seconds, but I'm a little stuck in my ways with my DAW. I hope you find something that works for you. At the end of the day, these are all a means to an end.
Yes, definitely. Maybe I feel like my contributions matter more since we are all trying to make this a viable platform? I dunno, but it's definitely more fun interacting here than on reddit.
I miss these old 90s style buttons on websites. A much simpler time...
