but if Frankenstein isn’t sci-fi then nothing I’ve seen labeled as sci-fi is.

And my point is if Frankenstein is scifi, then so is earlier stuff...

It's all where you draw the line, some people draw that line where electricity is involved, because electricity was a pretty big deal.

Earlier stories have more primitive science, later stories have more futuristic science.

Corpo friendly "moderates" are not cut out to fight fascism.

Them making the left unattractive to votes is what we keep having to fight fascism in the first place. No one would turn to rightwing fake populism if the leftwing was authentically populist.

If we count stuff earlier than 1898 your statement is false from the jump

I never said we should...

I view the begining of scif as the 60s maybe late 50s.

My point was if you're taking it back to Shelly, by the same logic we'd have to take it back further. Which you apparently agree with?

If we count Frankenstein as scifi...

Then stuff centuries earlier also count as scifi, and she's out of the discussion again.

But she was reasonably well-adjusted

Bruh...

She kept her dead husbands heart and would carry it around with her

They’re famous for distributing tracts door to door.

Like the Mormons a large part of that is making members believe outsiders hate them for their religion...

When really I just hate any random person who knocks on my door.

It's less to gain members, and more a way to prevent people from leaving.

— the women are saved through childbearing.

That's how cults grow their numbers.

Yeah, it's best to one line instead of delete so there's context, just never understood why people keep down voting after lol

My bad

Took a break from dealing with all the shit Elmo caused at work and I guess I'm just conditioned not to fully read AI blurbs

It's not a huge jump, we didn't evolve to just eat meat like cats did.

Like, you can "survive" on it for a long time, but eventually there's going to be a bunch of complications.

So they already believe one crazy thing that's popular enough to have communities, it shouldn't be shocking to see some go on to believe even crazier shit. It just keeps concentrating the crazy.

Same phenomenon that happens with lots of different groups, at least with this one they're only hurting themselves I guess.

OPM is setting up "email blasts" that go to all federal employees and I don't think it'll take long for this admin to treat it like Twitter.

They want to purge the chain of command of dissenters, so they want direct control/communication with every federal employee skipping entire chains of command.

Rather than orders being sent thru the chain of command (which is good for soooo many reasons) they want a direct pipeline to tell every federal employee to do something at the same time.

Israel's military said on Thursday it had detected "suspects" in several areas in southern Lebanon, calling this a violation of a ceasefire with Hezbollah.

On Thursday morning, Israeli tank fire hit six areas within the border strip, state media said.

The rounds struck Markaba, Wazzani and Kfarchouba, Khiyam, Taybe and the agricultural plains around Marjayoun — all of which lie within two kilometres of the Blue Line demarcating the border between Lebanon and Israel.

The ceasefire was scheduled to take effect from 4am local time on Wednesday.

So it'll be a while till next season, but the creators have always said 5 seasons to tell the story, and there's gotta be another big twist in the next two seasons.

But I think what we'll find out is Jade and Tabitha's original selves weren't just parents of one of the kids, they're the ones who made the deal with MiY.

I think it's not even that they failed to save their child, I think they went through with it, and got what they wanted.

They get reincarnated over and over again. They live forever and don't spend the whole time stuck in town like the others as monsters.

It's possible they were originally like the rest, and somehow found a way to escape and be normal. That would explain why their reincarnations keep getting pulled back. And why/how someone as powerful as MiY was locked up by a song the two used to sing to the children.

So it's more that those two staged a coup against MiY and were able to escape from his realm than these two have always been trying to free the children. Maybe that happened as soon as the deal was fulfilled, maybe after they'd been monsters for decades before getting out.

Maybe the only reason they get to leave, is they're ignorant of their role in things. If they remember too much, they lose their humanity again and become monsters like the rest.

So the overarching story is about them going from villian to hero and their redemption by freeing the children for selfish reasons after forgetting they were the ones that caused.

Like how in Good Place you had to be ignorant of the points system or the points don't count. They have to not know they're responsible to have pure motivations to free the children.

It's just we're only getting the very end of the story. Which I think is what's being set up by Julie being a "story walker". She'll be able to eventually show us what happened at the very beginning, way back when the deal was made.

And that means when the creators said "if you figure out the beginning, you'll know the whole story" they weren't talking about the begining of the show or what we've seen. But the literal begining of the town when the deal was made.

There's two seasons left, knowing the monsters are the kids parents isn't "the whole story" or there wouldn't be two more seasons.

Can I mod /fantheories?

The only mod created it a year ago, made a single post there, and hasn't made a comment/post anywhere in over four months.

They mod about 50 communities, all of them seem to be ghost towns the account was just squatting on.

So not sure if you just want to delete those so when someone wants to create it they can.

The reason it fits this sub, is they already knew this guy was an extremist committing crimes 2 years, long before he started shooting up Dem offices.

The cops just felt it wasnt in the interest of their personal safety to stop him, which lead to him escalating his crimes over the years.

Despite evidence pointing to Kelly as the perpetrator, Weich said law enforcement did not move to arrest him. Weich said that Phoenix police feared that approaching Kelly would pose a threat to their safety. A prosecutor out of the Phoenix City Attorney’s Office declined to pursue charges, Weich said.

Which lead to this:

Kelly was arrested about 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday during a traffic stop. Kelly's attorney Squires said his vehicle was stopped using a grappler that hooked the car from behind. "That is quite shocking to a person who's never had any previous allegations at all," Squires said in court.

Squires said in court the car was then surrounded by more than a dozen law enforcement personnel.

The prosecutor said Kelly had numerous guns in his car, including a machine gun. He did not have his cellphone. Similarly, no cellphone was tracked behind during the shootings at the Democratic office, the prosecutor said. That led authorities to believe he was on his way to "potentially do something," the prosecutor said.

Arkansas voters won’t get to weigh in on a ballot initiative to expand medical marijuana after the state Supreme Court ruled the measure didn’t fully explain what it would do, tossing out the initiative just two weeks before the election.

It’s too late to remove the measure from the ballot — early voting began Monday — so the court has ordered election officials not to count any votes cast on it. The proposed constitutional amendment would have broadened the definition of medical professionals who can certify patients for medical cannabis, expanded qualifying conditions and made medical cannabis cards valid for three years.
