On a sleepy road on the outskirts of Sydney sat a caravan that would make international headlines.

Inside, New South Wales police discovered enough explosives to cause a “potential mass causality event”, but no detonator. There was a list of Jewish sites and a note that included the words: “Fuck the Jews.”

It marked a significant escalation in a wave of antisemitic vandalism and arson attacks over the past months across Sydney.

Eleven people have been charged under Strike Force Pearl, which was set up to investigate hate crimes across Sydney, including one man charged on Friday evening with allegedly defacing a wall with Nazi symbols.

None have been charged in connection with the caravan. The Guardian does not suggest anyone charged over separate incidents has any connection to the caravan incident.

Also, if you have a headphone jack, you could use a 4-way headphone jack splitter and 4 of those little car audio bluetooth adapters. A little hacky, but it wouldn't break the bank.

There are apps that will synchronize audio, like snapcast. But yes, you would need individual devices.

You can also find a device that is capable to send two BT signals but I'm guessing one that sends 4 might be pro audio level.

Self-help thrives on shallow platitudes. For a price, it will make you think that they're deep platitudes and therefore you are deep for hearing and repeating them.

Honestly, that's a fair point.

Obviously because it's viewer and listener supported. I thought that was pretty clear, but maybe it bears repeating.

Any news source anywhere near the scale of PBS or NPR is supported by advertisers and owned by a media conglomerate.

FWIW this is a really dumb move. The only thing stopping PBS and NPR from becoming the leading leftist voice is the Federal accountability.

If they pull federal funding, they will mostly survive (thanks to "viewers like you"). They will just be untethered from government obligations.

I wonder how difficult it would be for a bad actor to walk right into a government office with bogus credentials to "inspect" things. All this chaos is bad for national security.

For the families of the released hostages, it was a day they had long been waiting for.

Wilas Thaenna wept after receiving a call to say his son Pongsak had been freed on Thursday.

"I never thought this day would come, everything has been too quiet for a while," the 65-year-old told the BBC.

He revealed he had barely slept the night before, as he was so excited at the prospect of his son being released.

"I don't know how to explain how I got through all that happened," he continued.

"My son was taken captive, I lost my wife, I had to stay strong.

"First five or six months, I've lost so much weight. It was distressing, I didn't have strength to do anything or go anywhere. I was worried all the time.

Is savings the one with the plus or the minus? Because depending on the answer I have more than 6 months of my salary.

A Mississippi district attorney proposed new legislation Wednesday to pay bounty hunters a reward for helping to deport immigrants in the country illegally.

Didn't I read about a state offering bounties?

Edit: Yep. Or at least proposed a bill.

Part of their marketing seems to be to create confusion about it. Bluesky uses the language and values of the fediverse to promote what is essentially another closed network. Meta is also doing this with Threads. Bluesky seems like a chill place and a lot of decent people seem to be very happy there, and they provide a lot more user controls than other networks, so the comic definitely still works.

As an aside, I have read in some places that self-hosting is very straightforward, and in other places that it is prohibitively difficult. I have basically no idea about any of these things.

BlueSky does not support federation in any way that we understand the word.

It is 100% reliant on the corporate server(s). They do offer a way to host your own data, which solves a singular problem with corporate media, which seems to be what they mean when they promote it "supporting federation." Is also has an open codebase, which is something.
