I didn't realize he had skin cancer. I know after Logan he said he didn't want to do the kind of insane diet and workout it takes to achieve the look. I have no issue with using CGI to protect an actor's health.
Well thankfully Gabe has lost a ton of weight in recent years. Man is looking absolutely svelte these days. Here's hoping he has many more years of good health.
I'm also guessing he'll hand pick a successor that will carry on his views, instead of dying in office and having some kind of CEO election free-for-all.

Honestly I feel the movie ending works better. Having a bunch of fancy energy generating plants blow up in multiple cities makes more sense than some weird bioengineered psychic alien octopus that wipes out New York.
