In NYC this led to our buses having thick polycarbonate between passengers and the driver. I think it was for the same bus models.

Rip, bus driver dude. This shouldn't have happened, and I hope that perp gets picked up soon.

We the people are not fans of use of eminent domain. It severely damages a project's reputation, see Robert Moses' destruction of many parts of NYC with shitty highways.

We do need more rail, and it gets easy to build in flat, unoccupied areas. CA HSR is taking advantage of that, so will WA. Maybe some day they'll connect.

Seems like Seattle is doing ok.

Link across lake Washington was supposed to be done already, but the floating bridge itself has an issue with improperly made concrete for the tremendous additional tonnage frequent train service will add (particularly if there was a seismic event).

This has had a number of knock-on effects, particularly the lack of access to the main OMF (operations and maintenance facility) in Bellevue, so the 1 line only has access to the smaller facility near sodo. That also means the additional train sets ordered can't be stored in a useful place, and messes up the phases of other parts of the schedule.

Good news: tracks are done, most likely we should expect to get trains testing for a few months in mid to late spring, with the cross-bridge connection finally opening to the public in summer 25.

Little late, sure, but I'd say this system is coming along quite nicely, after having previously supported NYC's transit systems.

Nah those guys are getting 90k+ per year, almost best employee benefits in the city (after our sanitation guys), and a few other things.

Sluggish selection is a good question. If you look at a video of this incident, the Swedish cops on vacation broke up the brawl professionally and nobody got hurt.

Then and now, multiple people I've spoken with have expressed sincere doubt NYPD would have treated them as cleanly.

I'm not sure what changed, but NYPD et al have always been at least mildly corrupt. I wonder what changed that got them to forget to be honorable with the people they're supposed to help.

Like you said, I also doubt many could handle a day in another country.

😬 that's... Literally what I'm saying, fucky. Good luck out there.

If anything, now I'm motivated to check it out.

Now you know you were, fuckhead.

California gave me a machine to automatically do that when I reach for non-vegetarian products in the store.

Bet, pirate meshed SDR broadcasts it is. Evil can be powerful, but never endures.

Anyone else hear these jets? They're zipping, and how.

E: Blue Angels doing some practice.

Anyone have input here?

I'm trying to decide which I like, yammie noob had a cool vid comparing the two with the xsr seemingly on top, but spec-wise, the z900 should be wild. I'm aware there are tune and exhaust kits to wake the undertuned z900 up.

I like spirited riding, but mostly on straights as I roar off to a campsite in the mountains. What do you folks think?

Google Pay alternative?

Hey there, I'm looking for an alternative to Google pay that'll allow me to use NFC payments etc. Thoughts?

I don't have a Google account, nor am I interested in opening one.

E: Just to clarify, the payment part would be convenient, more annoying is how I don't get to use a single place for my subway/gym/ticketmaster passes.

What a way to start the day. Had a spare, so it added a few minutes to my morning. Carefully cleaned the dust from around the plug, swapped, started and rode.

NBD, but what the fuck?

Exploring the city, it feels both dark and somehow inviting. New experience for sure.

Wish I could figure out how to attach multiple photos in voyager.

Gluten free? (self.lemmybread)
submitted 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago) by RubberElectrons to c/lemmybread

Hey everyone, does anyone know how to make gluten free bread that might be as soft and fluffy as that previously posted Japanese milk bread appears to be?

So, after watching "Plagues and pleasures on the Salton sea" (available on YouTube for free), I decided to look into what was happening to it.

Looks like we actually may help with restoration. But what does that mean, where are we getting the water for it? Will that money actually get to us?
