I don't think it was UHC that made a price drop either. I think HR may have gotten the ear of someone important and got them to change the company subsidy.

HA HA HA fellow humankind member. This has given me a pointer to a disk location of a friend back in university

Lol but seriously, back in uni a friend of mine got their social media hacked. The hacker was trying to beg for money and such. One person got suspicus and asked what their favorite beer was, so the scammer texted me "hey what is my favorite beer?"

Fortunately the account got locked for some reason, so no money was stolen. Bro still has not recovered it.

I think it tracks. Most people that have a decent plan are also rather healthy. They might use the plan a few times a year for meds and a family doctor visit. Which the insurance is not going to fight you to hard on, so you might perceive the system to be working well. If you are unhealthy then you are about to find out a lot of what the market values.

I am not trying to justify any given stance. Just trying to point out that someone's name is on the server/domain/etc and that powers that be may try to make an example out of you. It is also perfectly fair to not want to deal with that. Similar to the discussion around piracy sometime back. Its easy to be brave when you cannot be called out. I leave it to the rest of the forum to make their conclusions on the matters.

Maybe people won’t become billionaires doing this,

I think the first bit is a big part. Keeping generated wealth is a main selling point for capitalism.

but why wait for a complete overhaul of society to implement more of what are good ideas ... I’d also like to see more childcare co-ops, or community shared pre-k schools.

I think this is one part lack of resources. Those who can spare the most for a pool don't see the need too. Those who need these things the most are still inside a market that does not reward such things. You would need way more low income people to fund the preK and the staff could do better working somewhere else, unless there is an element of altruism to working with low income communities.

A lot of things are market driven in the US and markets are not as good at selecting good ideas as our myths around them suggest. Right to repair is a good example of this. Everyone is better of being able to fix stuff; even if most chose not to. More people would be better with community this or that, but most people do not know about them, or they won't know how to organize.

It is going to be hard to pick a pragmatic approach that can survive pressures from a for profit market that might have and that people will culturally accept today.

And then they complain about the cost of fuel.

In the US slap suits are a thing. Not sure what the EU equivalent is. It is perfectly fair to not want to deal with one of any form.

Nothing fancy, just the raw essential on a rushed morning.

I have recently been trying to play Halo Wars and Helldivers 2 online. Naturally I wanted to be able to talk with my teammates, but the microphone does not seem to work. I have gone into the settings and switched between the available options, but I cannot chat with others. What can I do to debug?

The video is not real, but very cool editing.

So I was thinking about some othere thread talking about climate change here. Reminded me that when I was a kid the RGV was a pretty big river. I don't see it often as I don't cross the border often, but it seems like its been dry or very weak for several years now. Has there been any discussion about this anywhere?

Hey all!

(I did post this in c/flatpak, but this community is more active. I am not sure where would be more appropriate)

Something that I have been wanting to get working is having my browser and password manager both in flatpak. I really like being sandbox and having faster updates if the distro is on the slower side perhaps.

I have a set up with Firefox as a deb and keepassxc as a flat and that works find as one would expect. I did want to install Vivaldi as a flatpak and was not able to get it to talk with keepass.

In my reading I found this: installing KeePassXC natively, which you’d actually want for security reasons.

installing KeePassXC natively, which you’d actually want for security reasons

What is mean by that line of reasoning?
