Don’t sites already do this?

[–] Hikiru 2 points 8 months ago

Nope. It just says comments are disabled. You can’t view comments on videos “made for kids”

1: disable the UI stuff hiding when you scroll down 2: change the comment jump to work more like apollo. Add haptics to press, and make long press go back a comment by default with a setting to use long press to move it. Also, for the long press to jump setting, let people choose if it’s on the left or right.

They just closed it for being a duplicate of their own issue years ago https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/issues/1440

Most of their moneymakers are casual internet users who don’t care about any of this stuff and would only stop using reddit of it literally became unusable. If everyone who would be willing to use Lemmy stopped using reddit permanently right now they still wouldn’t care and would have plenty of users left.

For the first time ever, when i screenshotted it said “Wait! Don’t screenshot! this post looks better when you share it.” I’ve screenshotted plenty before and never seen this. Are they really that desperate for interaction?

If you want some reasons:

  1. lemmy.world is a quickly growing instance, and even I’ve switched to it from kbin since the lemmy mobile apps don’t support kbin. Anyone using lemmy.world (which is a lot of people using the fediverse) is going to see that [email protected] has more subs, even if our communities have a similar amount.

  2. The name breath_of_the_wild might be more familiar to reddit users so people might look up that community first
