It's going to be awesome. Starfield and Phantom Liberty look amazing.
I don't organise it 🥲
Sony buys exclusivity all the time and they are the market leader. It's easier for them to buy it because, as the market leader, the developers won't lose out on the majority of potential players by going exclusive.
But this creates a positive feedback loop where Sony can get lots of exclusives which leads more players to move to PlayStation due to the exclusives which helps Sony get even more exclusives etc.
The FTC should really investigate those deals.
Muy bien... now we just need to solve the unemployment.
I read The Player of Games and it was good. I also read Consider Phleblas and while it was very different to Player Of Games I didn't think it was as bad as some people say.
Apparently Use of Weapons is also really good so I should go back to that series. The whole Culture thing is really interesting.
It'll probably be portable though. It's competing more with the Steam Deck etc. than a PS5.
They are good games, but they seem mostly designed for PC. Frostpunk has a console edition but it's probably pretty awkward to play versus PC.
I wish Xbox would hunt down more console-centred games for Game Pass. PC Game Pass is really popular as well but it seems that a lot of the latest additions are geared towards PC.
Kotick says PlayStation’s CoD revenue is 2x higher than Xbox CoD revenue; says PlayStation being successful has lead to CoD’s success too
This is why the paid exclusivity deals from Sony seem really anti-consumer, even if they are only temporary exclusivity (most sales happen at launch).
If you already have the most market share, and by quite a large margin (the Switch is bit of a different market), then it's a lot easier for you to buy exclusivity deals because a developer will be losing a lot less sales by being exclusive to PlayStation than by being exclusive to Xbox.
Of course, these exclusivity deals then further grow PlayStation's higher market share in a positive feedback loop and this ultimately leads to less competition and worse outcomes for consumers.
In China they actually build stuff. In the West we just talk about it and fly in private jets to extravagant climate conferences.
in-game marketplace of content and [user-generated content] (free and paid)
I wonder how much free user-generated content there will be?
As in the past modders (i.e. users) generated an incredible amount of content for free, but I suppose if they were allowed to distribute that it would destroy the monetisation of the free-to-play game.
You can still buy the games outside of Game Pass.
A lot, it's just a mess though because I downloaded books to my kindle from multiple computers (I've had my kindle since 2015). But I can use the search function to find what I want to read next.
