Nice! I like that this is a little more granular/ niche than a lot of guides. Might take this up this month. Great work
Hell yeah, subscribed
if every local user would donate 1 cent each month we would get more in donations than our total costs are
This is a really solid selling point. Every admin should do this math and ask for donations like this. I know I often fall into the trap of feeling like I need to donate more. Because it's a bigger bite of my budget, I end up procrastinating and not donating. But reading this, I would more readily donate an amount that's more comfortable to me but also accounts for other users' portions
Sad how hard it is to tell
Did you spell comeuppance like that on purpose?
use that to make the best damn lattes I've ever had.
Hey man, that's all that matters
They might be trying to recreate communities they use
Honestly, I see your point but i don't think we should encourage people to even try to make or moderate that many communities. There's a user that I mentioned above who has created around 300 communities at this point. A human can't actually handle all that, even if they do have good intentions
@Ruud, lemmy.world's admin, posted this moderation guideline in response to a post like this about another user
I think the city life with everyone being in a rush and overwhelmed with work has decreased the amount of third places a lot.
Also monetization. What third places do exist are, like you pointed out, places of business. They cost money. This is detrimental to our communities
It's pretty insane the amount of work they did for free. I never even thought about the effort that went into a sub like that. Good for them
