I'm not sure I understand.

Saying "We can do better than Trump/Fascism/Corruption/Kleptocracy" seems far from normalising the current state?

It's protesting what-aboutism, already disconnected from the topic.

Did you know that right leaning voters lack empathy for others, whereas left leaning voters understand both sides of the arguments?

Why are you protesting? It's just accurately explaining the political divide.

Ooh, are you protesting what-aboutism on a what-about reply? Seems a tad bigoted, no?

What's wrong with the message "We should be doing better, not worse"?

Seems preferable to the "hurt people who also want the things I have" that seems the core of conservatism.

Couldn't you just freeze a zip lock bag of appropriate size and lay on top?

Not forever, sooner or later he'll (hopefully) die.

That an ally offers security guarantees and support to rebuild after defeating their biggest military threat?

Fool me once, shame on me, fool me 20 times and I should sign away half my country's mineral wealth for no guarantees and no gains...

Reportedly yes.

Who is?

Who made Trump happen?

I'm sorry you feel powerless to affect your country, but there is no one else to. Abdicating that responsibility neither removes the consequences, nor exculpates you.

In a rioting mob, even the people not setting fire to things are in part responsible for the riots.

In your survival, head-in-the-sand, mode you are normalising the situation, you are providing legitimacy, you are enforcing the current order.

The other side can say "look, this dude's not protesting, they have a great life under Great Leader", they can ignore you and put those resources to oppress others instead (women, trans, homosexuals, foreigners, allies), they can march right past your house to take the capital.

Your inaction is also a choice, a choice that emboldens and enables the fascists.

If you don't act, who should? If you don't act now, will there be another time?

Lol, if only there was a way to verify or critique news...

For real though, you should definitely start scrutinising your media diet, no single source will be unbiased and trustworthy at every point in time. Nor while they have the whole picture.

Start at sources with a history of credibility, watch for biases, amateur speculation or omissions, compare to independent reporting/verification of the same events.

In the current information age, you should really do this for all information you consume, including this.

You can search for media literacy, how to counter fake news/disinformation/misinformation, or similar terms.

The correct response would probably be something like:

"Yes you did, it was broadcast live to most of the world. Why, don't you remember? Is your memory failing you?"
