This is what I always say, it has the perfect level of dad joke energy IMO.

I'm a musician for a living so it feels appropriate for me.

Haha this I like. Unplugged

I want to say ‚bike‘?

[–] Beelzebob 10 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Whatever happened to just "bicycle"?

[–] [email protected] -2 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Well, e-bikes are bicycles, too.

[–] Beelzebob 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Right, but e-bikes are most often referred to as just that, e-bikes.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 year ago (1 children)

If you're talking about specific models, sure. But if you ask a group of people "Who's here by bicycle today?" the ones that came with an e-bike would raise their hands, too.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

sure because bicycle is the generic for e-bikes too but this is not the discussion

the discussion is about changing the name for the bikes that doesn't have a motor just because now the e-bikes are popular in some countries despite the fact that bicycles historically don't have a motor and the number of bikes without motor is largely superior than the ones with

even the term e-bikes is incorrect! an e-bike should be a bicycle with a dynamo that produces electricity again a bicycle with a dynamo was invented earlier and I suppose there are more bikes with a dynamo than bikes with motor

Bicycle means two wheels, so a motorbike technically is a bicycle, too.
But e-bikes are closer to non-e-bikes than to motorcycles in terms of components, looks and propulsion.

as you said: a motor bike is technically a bicycle. ok. then the feature that makes a different name is the motor, isn't it? then a bicycle with a motor is a motorbike.

"crankyboi"

Pinkbike is getting so pathetic. Instead of trying to farm outrage for clicks, maybe do something to actually promote something. Cheap bitches didn't even have an advent giveaway this year. Fuck outside, and fuck Pinkbike for selling out.

You know of any better sites? It seems like it's pretty hard to find genuinely good articles most of the time and something is better than nothing.

Not many alternatives. Some of my go-tos are NSMB and VitalMTB. Loam Ranger for Vlogs I guess too.

I believe italians call it a 'muscle bike', which i found kinda funny and cool.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

My wife calls reel lawn mowers "man powered lawnmower," which very clearly communicates how it works. Muscle bike does that as well, with the funny allusion to muscle cars.

I like it, I'm going to use it. Let's make it a thing.

*Velocipede. (I was going to say it, darnit.)

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago

Analogue bike

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago

Pedal Bike. That's what my Gramps called it

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Mechanical bike

I believe the federal rules on wilderness areas put it under "mechanized transportation" or something like that.

Maybe not as cool as acoustic bike but it's the most accurate in contrast to "motorized bike"

That's quite clever actually :D

[–] FartsWithAnAccent 3 points 1 year ago

I usually just say "regular bike"
