Drive mode selection on the ceiling of the vehicle. That’s definitely a choice.

A terrible one… it won’t take long for there to be a few articles relating people crashing into the person behind them accidentally and stuff

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 year ago

I like it, feels like my Elite Dangerous spaceship or something. Also, it’s just in case of emergency on a Tesla.

This is just failsafe so you can still drive if the screen is unavailable. Drive mode selection is automatic and you can also select it on the screen. For the record, I also think it's dumb to put it there, but let's get the facts straight.

yeah most cars I've driven have that knob/button right next to the screen. Not sure why this is a "failsafe".

It's there so that if the Infotainment system faults you can still move the vehicle around safely

[–] Ghostalmedia 4 points 1 year ago

True. Just saying it’s weird. Although just about every part of this thing is weird.

This whole thing reminds me of The Simpsons episode where Homer designs a car.

It feels like the big dipshit had a personal hand in the design decisions. Tesla: “Right behind you, X!”

I’d rather drive a fucking Gremlin.

The Cybertruck is absolutely The Homer.

You can see that he was in the helm ask along It is stupid from beginning to end, as its creator. I'm pretty sure his touches on previous Teslas were for example driving on Mars, biohazard filters, etc. All the important stuff.

That big wiper is horrendous

[–] [email protected] 21 points 1 year ago (2 children)

The whole thing is horrendous.

A Fiat Multipla looks better than this abomination.

[–] Bourff 5 points 1 year ago

Ouch, that's brutal and should not be said lightly. But you have a point.

[–] PrinceWith999Enemies 4 points 1 year ago

Oof.

The Multipla had a certain jolie laide. This just looks like what a not-gifted sixth grader draws in his notebook between the Cool S and the swords.

The video was great and I like Marques' EV videos in general.

But this truck seems awful. So many strange choices. From the weird gear selection to the 'beast' mode option and everything in between. Looks are also pretty subjective but I think this thing is super ugly.

Now the prices being way off from what was originally promised? Oof this is a miss for me.

what the fuck is going on in the comments of that video? The "$AMA59X" bots are doing some of the shoddiest astroturfing I've seen in years

[–] GooseFinger 2 points 1 year ago

Looks like these comments are to drum up hype for a crypto scam. Whoever made the coin is leeching off Amazon's brand recognition to dupe people to buy some. Scams like this are pretty common since the crypto boom unfortunately.

The sun visors have a gap on top when you pull them down, so you'll get the sun in your eyes anyway.

This thing looks exactly like every single car I drew when I was in elementary school.

[–] sagrotan 2 points 1 year ago

Wow. You drove a car while you were .. ohh, I see what you did there. Still a shitty car you've drawn in elementary. Like I did too. Maybe a little less shitty, we were land folks, I just drew tractors LOL

[–] Alivrah 18 points 1 year ago

That thing is ugly as sin

Imagine if all the money that went into reinventing the electric truck for no reason went into making mass transit options better (and I’m not talking about a joke fever dream of a subway but with cars). What a colossal waste.

[–] Goodbyeworld 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Musk is a weirdo, but I like the dystopian stupid truck and it looks cool. I’ll see myself out though.

Do you need a truck? Why or why not?

Are you going to buy one? Why or why not?

In general I like his videos but this one wasn't nearly as honest as he can usually be. For a 100k vehicle, this looks like utter garbage. There are so so many obviously ignored issues in his review this couldn't in all honesty be called a critique. Tesla would love if this was what everyone had to say. But it will be far worse.

Everything from shape to choice of materials was a mistake for this one. Crumple zones are an important. Instead of those you get decapitating sharp edges of metal which is known to be rigid and non-pliable. Not to mention there are no mechanism to easy pedestrian injuries and atrocious visibility from cockpit, something you normally get on vehicles half the price.

Also, good luck escaping vehicle when battery catches fire without mechanical door handles and "bullet proof" glass. But then again, we are talking about Tesla fans who will fork over money on anything Elon says. So I wouldn't be surprised if it starts selling.
