The offense is not doing well. Play calling has been really suspect, Josh Allen has been struggling a bit (but not nearly as much as people claim) and most of the rest of the offense is playing like they either don't give a shit or have forgotten how. It's just painful to watch; multiple guys dropping perfectly catchable passes, other guys consistently running their routes wrong, and the O-Line basically disappearing at times.
Some amount of that is normal but it shouldn't be happening multiple times a game and multiple games in a row!
damn, thank you for the explanation. seems the bills players might have lost faith in the team?
I don't think that the Bill's players have lost faith in the team. I think their former OC Ken Dorsey forced too many major changes into their scheme too quickly and that some of those changes were incompatible with their roster.
For instance not allowing Josh Allen to scramble and not giving him designed run plays. They replaced that with more passing and more run plays. That meant Defense's no longer had to worry so much about designed QB runs which freed them up for more Pass and Run coverage. On top of that the O-Line suddenly REALLY needed to give Josh pocket time to throw. Since Josh was being heavily discouraged from scrambling that meant he had to go through his pass progressions which led to more plays that go nowhere and Josh being sacked more often.
IMO Dorsey's overall scheme was probably fine but it was too much change done too quickly and with the wrong roster.
I would add on that apparently the play tree for Dorsey was apparently so simple that defenses could figure it out in only a few plays. Like if guys lined up in a certain way, then the D knew it would 1-2 plays max. That allows defenses to guess the play and jump routes, which accounts for a significant chunk of Allen's interceptions for the year. If that's true, then it's no wonder Allen has the number of interceptions he does and then blame really doesn't fall on the offense's shoulders, but on the OC for being so transparent.
Understandable decision from the Bills.
