If a professor doesn't know the words deus ex that's sad

If someone pronounced it as Day-os-ex I would also need at least a few seconds to get it because I personally use the latin pronunciation.

"D-E-U-S-E-X. Get your minds out of the gutter." - Anon, six months from this post, in the shower

Anon was clearly not in choir. Any singer would know it's "deh oos", not "day us".

[–] [email protected] 13 points 7 months ago (2 children)

Still sounds like "day o' sex", but from Northern England or something

[–] [email protected] 7 points 7 months ago (2 children)

If a British professor doesn't know his basic Latin, that's even was.

Deus Ex Machina is like one of the most commonly known Latin phrases, along with Veiny Viny Vici

[–] [email protected] 2 points 7 months ago (1 children)

To stay on topic, want to Vici my Veiny Viny?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 months ago

Do I want to wici your weiny winy?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 7 months ago

It's veni, vidi, vici, not veiny viny vici.

Thanks I'm northern and was confused by what distinction this comment is trying to show

[–] [email protected] 3 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago)

I believe it should be "In excelsis deo, but "dominus deus". Something about Latin endings stuck in my mind from those days too.

You triggered some really awful memories just now. I thought I had them buried, but you just exposed them to light and now I have to deal with them.

[–] [email protected] 39 points 7 months ago (1 children)

[–] [email protected] 5 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Could have said "Meet 'N' Fuck Kingdom"

[–] Madison420 1 points 7 months ago (1 children)

I'm just gunna put it out there since I came across it on steam, there is in fact a Hitler based sex game.... Why no idea, did I laugh for like an hour after I found it, yes he's I did.

[–] ShitOnABrick 1 points 7 months ago

Ah sex with Hitler good game 10/10

[–] [email protected] 19 points 7 months ago

You should’ve said Deus formerly known as Twitter

[–] CuddlyCassowary 19 points 7 months ago (1 children)

This doesn’t even make sense.

[–] morphballganon 31 points 7 months ago (2 children)

It does if you assume anon doesn't know latin pronunciation.

[–] slaacaa 9 points 7 months ago

(And the rest of the class have no idea about that “old” game)

[–] CuddlyCassowary 2 points 7 months ago (1 children)

In that case it would more likely be “do (or deuce) sex,” but that’s not the vibe.

[–] morphballganon 8 points 7 months ago

They're implied to have pronounced it "DAY-us EX"
