They are banking on nostalgia, because nostalgia is all they have left. After so many people have left I don't even know what to expect from a new ME or DA game.

Pretty much, is anyone from their golden age still even at the studio? Makes sense why they need to rely on their past hits if they can't make any new ones

All the key story writers are gone

That “cinematic trailer” they put out last for Dreadwolf was the same - it was just narration by Varric over still image artwork done in the style of Solas’ murals. Varric is such a fan favorite that of course they had his VA do the voice over. It was pure nostalgia bait. Ditto with the outfit the woman in the N7 clip was wearing - basically just Laura’s outfit in Shep’s colors.

Sorry, but at this point, I need more than nostalgia.

The games are dead bioware is not the same it was when we got these great series. All the talent has left. Honestly the studio Spiders is the only developer that can even come close in terms of a spiritual successor to bioware, they just gotta fix the eurojank

You misspelled Larian there. But you're right, Spiders is pretty close to delivering a truly great RPG one of these days.

I mean larian for sure but larian is turn based combat, sometimes I like regular combat like a dragon age or ME

I love Spiders but yeah, they need to work on their polish if they want to hit the mainstream. I'm hoping Greedfall 2 will be that next step, I had a great time with the first game when it came out, despite its jank.

Rockstar said they are going to show a teaser to their next GTA game in early December. They didn't say which year though.

I remember there was a teaser trailer how many years ago? With Liara in a frozen planet

If BioWare actually wanted to give ME fans anything to hope for, they’d use resources to bring ME3’s multiplayer to ME Legendary Edition.

They could allow just that add-on alone to bankroll both ME and DA projects while really showing that they have anything in the tank other than just hints of nostalgia.

Or, they could have put real effort into ME2 and 3 in Legendary Edition. There were hardly any changes made to either of those games for Legendary Edition, yet they jacked up a lot of the lighting, they didn’t fix any of the major bugs in the games, and then introduced a whole slew of new bugs.

Don’t get me wrong; I loved the changes to ME1 brought with Legendary, but there’s little good will left when a remaster can’t get some of the basics right.

The fact is, all the talent that made the ME trilogy and the DA games left BioWare ages ago. The amount of resources put into Anthem which utterly failed is all that BioWare have left. What’s even more infuriating is that the bulk of BioWare’s resources were essentially pulled from the ME: Andromeda project and given to make Anthem, and yet Anthem was still a disaster.

BioWare are a complete shell of what they once were. Like anything else that EA Games touches, they have been sucked dry of all talent and innovation, and all that’s left is a meaningless husk of the company’s name.

ME3 multiplayer was so fun. I played for a few hours and enjoyed being absolutely garbage and then getting a few points to help with the end game.

when it should still be on its apology tour.

Yeah, they learned never to back down or apologize after Anthem.

When people stay mad at you after you apologize, your takeaway shouldn’t be to never apologize again.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

An apology doesn't make people less mad, usually. It signals you are aware what you did is wrong or at least made people upset. People get less mad when you act differently in the future. Bioware can keep apologizing but if they keep screwing up no one's going to care.

I have no trust in Bioware with last game of theirs I bothered to get being Mass Effect 3, and being highly skeptical of Andromeda even before the memes over the launch bugs.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago

Remember, this is not BioWare, it's just an ea puppet. The team that did the amazing games is long gone.

I never liked ME as much as previous Bioware titles and all while playing I just couldn't put my finger on what it was lacking, until EA announced their purchase, as well as it coming to light that they were already helping with ME before the purchase announcement. That's what it was. They sucked some of the passion and life out of the game. I didn't bother with the others that were entirely developed under EA. To me, the last true Bioware game was Jade Empire.

BioWare/EA are dead to me since ME3. They've received zero dollars from me since.
