Rules (interactive)
Rule 1- All posts must be legitimate questions. All post titles must include a question.

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.
Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.
Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.
That's it.
Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.
Questions which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.
Rule 6- Regarding META posts and joke questions.
Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-question posts using the [META] tag on your post title.
On fridays, you are allowed to post meme and troll questions, on the condition that it's in text format only, and conforms with our other rules. These posts MUST include the [NSQ Friday] tag in their title.
If you post a serious question on friday and are looking only for legitimate answers, then please include the [Serious] tag on your post. Irrelevant replies will then be removed by moderators.
Rule 7- You can't intentionally annoy, mock, or harass other members.
If you intentionally annoy, mock, harass, or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.
Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.
Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.
Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.
Let everyone have their own content.
Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here.

This is very close!
I guess a lot of documentaries used similar copyright free music, that thus sounded "simpler" (lower production quality).
This is what I was thinking, although I feel some of the samples more represent 70's & 80's
True they might evoke nostalgia for a more 70's/80's vibe. Oneohtrix Point Never is pretty great too. Whoever synth or vaporwave artists are sampling... [edit] edited out a response for op.
If this is music from Cosmos, then look up Vangelis.
Oooh of course, how could I forget them, yes Vangelis is the closest so far!
I'd say New Age - like Jean Michel Jarre and Vangelis
Yes, that's the stuff :D
Thanks
I don't think that it actually answers your question, but I would like to point out that the sun is a mass of incandescent gas: a gigantic nuclear furnace.
Not sure if it's what you mean, but synthwave goes very well with anything space-related and fits the time period as well as what you described.
Yeah probably synthwave or close to it if there even was a name for it.
I'm still trying to find examples
Spacewave? It tends to be more slow paced and synth-heavy, and really evokes the feeling of giant planets and stars. For example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2RlxClUifEw&t=1800 (at the 30 minute mark, though the very first song works too)
Vaporwave? Smooth jazz? Elevator Music? Lounge Music?
Vaporware specifically is the latter 3 things chopped up together and was often found through random commercial projects like films, ads, etc.
I certainly get what you're talking about; I've always liked that kind of music myself. But I'm not sure if there is a specific name for the style.
Do you mean Trip Hop? A lot of Trip Hop music came out in the 90s. Popular artists were Massive Attack, Portishead, or Tricky among many others
Are you talking about Earth: The Biography and How The Earth Changed History? Stuff like that?
Sadly I don't remember specific titles. When I think of this music I picture badly rendered 3D landscape and violently erupting volcanoes 🤔
Could you be thinking of old educational videos that were played in schools?
Maybe like Bill Nye or Eyewitness?

If you do find an example, it would help a lot to narrow it down
Could you be thinking of old educational videos that were played in schools?
Yeah probably, but I think I also watched stuff like that on TV.
Maybe like Bill Nye or Eyewitness?
Not the first one, the second one is closer but too "tropical".
If you do find an example, it would help a lot to narrow it down
I keep searching

This might be similar, though still somewhat tropical
