So my kid was playing and while attempting to hijack a ship it took off into space. Once he killed the crew he was unable to fly the ship due to having too low of a level. Being overburdened he dumped all of his gear and then fast travelled back to his destination. About an hour later he returned to that planet and found the ship floating in space and when he boarded everything was floating like the power was off. Pretty cool for sure.

In my defense he's probably a bully at school too.

That's a strange defense to take

In my defense my kid sucks IRL too 😂

Just happened to me. Didn't notice going up. Did notice that "eh... why is there a planet out there...?" when I took over the cockpit.

Fun starts when the game informs that your level is not high enough to sit on the pilot seat, so you can't commandeer or control it.

And that’s why I use the UC vanguard flight sim to level piloting 2 or 3 trips are enough to get through the final challenge

There should be more space POIs spawning. Getting that skill up naturally is a real pain because there's usually barely anything going on anywhere.

On my playthrough I just unlocked the Mantis questline. With the Razorleaf for my combat ship I just jumped around stars and went to any and all POIs that were hostile activity. Got to level 3 really fast like that.

I literally almost never see any POIs when I open the map.

The easiest way to get POIs is to buy slates from vendors, pick up tracker missions for combat, and when you scan planets land at the first random place that shows up. Also, it really helps to hail ships and ask.

Wait, slates from vendors?!

[–] AzPsycho 1 points 9 months ago

I found some in a misc items for sale at a couple of different places. Maybe I sold them? IDK but they weren't in the buy back part.

Yeah I noticed that too was kind of cool, but how come we can't get to space that way normally haha

Yep. Happened twice to me so far. The first time I completed the hijack in space. The second time the (pirate) ship was attacked in orbit by security forces, and destroyed before I had time to eliminate the crew.

Life with a bounty on your head is tough.

Several times. Its annoying as hell, cause its always on a shit tier ship I dont want to take ownership of or fly anywhere.

Only when I've jumped on top of them as they were taking off just to see what would happen.

(At some point it becomes incorporeal so you just fall through)

You get some serious air, though!

A similar thing happened to me when I was actually attempting to board a ship. As soon as I walked up the hatch and tried to open the door, the hatch closed and the ship started moving. Couldn't enter at that point, and I was also now trapped in the airlock as the ship was taking off into space.

Was actually a bit terrifying, because in theory I was now completely at the mercy of these pirates and had to hope they didn't just jettison me off into space after they noticed I was there. In reality, I just phased out of the ship as it went too high up and was a bit disappointed that nothing that exciting can actually happen.

i had a save right before they trigger a hostile spaceship landing. The spaceship will always take off once I have boarded it.

i replayed the save 6 times. each time different ship is spawned. And the sequence is always the same

  1. Boarded the ship
  2. Alarm buzz
  3. Ship take off
  4. Game enter loading screen
  5. Exited to space
  6. Ship will be in grav jump

at this point i must kill all crew fast and stop the grav jump. Otherwise my character will always die instantly.

the ship will stop once all crews are dead

Leave one alive outside and they won't take off. But if you kill everyone inside, loot everything, and goes back out and take out the remaining guy, it will fly off despite everyone inside being dead.

I found the same ship in orbit after (a red enemy dot that didn't attack got me curious), boarded, found them still dead but returned to their seats. And the illegal cargo on their dashboard having respawned. No loot in cargo or captain's locker. It could have been a different ship, but that would be one hell of a coincidence, exact same ship layout, and missing cargo loot?
