I've decided, in my 50th year on the planet, to do something about getting fitter. I'm fit enough to do my manual labouring type job but not as fit as I'd like to be. I work in food manufacturing, which has been better for the wallet than the waistline! I'm not really one for going to the gym and I have trouble sticking with things like exercise routines. So this morning I downloaded a coaching app and started with a beginner's workout. It turned out to be a good place to start. I wasn't absolutely stuffed by the end of it but I definitely felt like I'd done some exercise! I'm posting about this to keep myself accountable. Hopefully I'll be less likely to slack off!

To stick with it long term, try and focus on forming a positive habit around exercise. That means you should be enjoying it as much as possible each time. And that means you should take it easy on yourself! Go slow and light to start with, otherwise you'll feel too exhausted/sore and won't want to come back to it. Try listening to some music or a podcast/audiobook while you're exercising. Pick the days ahead of time you're going to exercise, and schedule it in. Reward yourself afterwards with a treat. Try gamifying it with Strava and sharing with friends if that motivates you. Do whatever is necessary to make the exercise an enjoyable part of your routine. The rest will fall into place once the habit is formed. Good luck!

I'm not going to lie, I have zero regrets whatsoever about being in Sydney this weekend, went down to Corrimal beach with the fam and had a great time basking in the sun with short sleeves and rolled up pants...

...even though I am currently shitting myself, as I have a SMALL amount of extremely urgent work to finish this weekend, but I'd somehow left my laptop on when unplugging so it had barely enough battery left aaaaand I've stuuuuupidly left my charger all the way back in Melbourne...

The Targus proprietary charger from jbhifi isn't working and my cousin's just helped me get the USB-C one - I need just enough juice for it to synchronise the files to SharePoint for another colleague to work on tomorrow 😭 praying it'll work

E: I GOT IT TO WORK. Crisis averted

Feeling super smooth in the Smeg household after we just did clay masks. Bought the Sky & Sand Australian pink clay.

Self-care Sunday success! Would buy again

Had bros wedding last night. Was wonderful.

Sent the parents off to an art gallery with my aunt and cousin so I get some much needed solo pool time.

It's exhausting trying to make conversation at brekky, lunch, dinner and stuff in between.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (4 children)

An AA mate made me flush my weed down the toilet. Take the hit. I wasn't smoking anyway. Fucking waste of money but it's better than relapsing, that would cost a lot more ultimately.

Brekky at the caff. A few groceries, then i'm gonna get my arse into gear, clean the kitchen, make that fucking stew finally, go for a walk and play guitar. As always I face fucking transphobia from losers on the online meeting just as I do everywhere else pretty much online. Funny how fucking weak people are. I never experience it in person. Interestingly though immediately after I read it someone read the sickness part. This program is working for me anyway and the group are really supportive and accept me for who I am. That person will be banned. It's just fucking frustrating. /ent rant. Today will be good a day

Tinyest is about the only person on the planet who likes my singing. Proof that we’re not born with a sense of taste.

Oh man it’s over! Wagner boss is going to live in exile, which just means he’s gonna die of a 9mm hemorrhage or drink some nuclear tea in a few months. And some how, Putin lives on to fight another day. That’s underwhelming AF. Hope Ukraine made some solid gains in all the chaos.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It's distinctly possible that Putin will die of a 9mm haemorrage or similar instead. I don't think Prigozhin is finished yet. He still has 25,000 of Russia's best troops on tap and loyal to him, and I believe only Gazprom has more best quality soldiers. The regular Russian army is apparently underwhelming. I do agree that the winner out of this is Ukraine. I expect to see the other oligarchs getting restive fairly soon too. I would not be Putin for quids at this stage.

Sunday Monday happy days
Tuesday Wednesday happy days
Thursday Friday happy days
Saturday what a day
Rockin all week for you. 🎶

I may have plagiarised this but it's ok because the under 35s probably don't know any different.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I used to sing this to my kids to help them learn the days of the week, until they asked when Whataday is.

So i have a weird fun thing w woolies where i always get as close to the delivery min $50 as possible, and every 2 to 3 days, to keep my wastage down. Theyre now increasing it to $75 (i did look at coles but their subscription is twice as much) so now ill be strategically adding and removing stuff from my cart to reach 75 instead 😅 its an odd diversion but i enjoy it lol

So I brought back just over a kg of Kava from Fiji. Damn, after a few wines it's a great thing to have so you don't get too drunk instead. Just makes you chilled out but not paranoid like weed does to me.

Have just marinated and batch cooked a whole bunch of chicken breast with my new girlfriend (the air fryer) for meals throughout the week. So easy, so delicious, and so tempted to just eat a mountain of chicken right now.

Taekwondo grading went amazingly!
Now onto the next thing: finding LARP-ish gear for a fey outfit soon. I really need to figure out where the charity shops are in the CBD, I just need to get like five leather belts.

I really don't want to go to work tomorrow. Or ever, really. If I do a Go Fund Me for 2.5 million so I can retire you guys would all chip in, right?

Usually I like to spend my Sunday nights brooding, but it was nice to have dinner with some friends I hadn't seen for a while.

Picking up my Intel NUC from Centrecom Maribyrnong today.

Stopping at Le Bajo Milkbar in North Melbourne first.

Then probably wash the car in Alphington on the way home at this place Mr Smeg's work uses that's touch free but does a super deep clean.

Playing some PBS in the car on our journeys. Not a bad day all up

I was out on a walk and got the chance to appreciate it this morning. Very nice cloud patterns. I tried to get Mr Woof interested, but dogs just aren't wired to look at the sky, so I'm glad there are people here to share it with. 🙂

Bit the bullet and cancelled my Netflix subscription, as I'm just not using it enough to justify it.
In other news, the cats suddenly like Whiskas again. headdesk

My Jerboa app finally updated! It seemed to take a while for the update to show in the store for some reason, but I am now in the "sort thread by new" club on my tablet. Happy days. Hopefully the phone app will sort itself out and stop crashing every time I try to open it as well.

Edit: it works! I am on my phone, app is open and it is no longer telling me that every instance does not actually exist.

My JavaScript project is off to a slow start. I wanted to download the appropriate programs onto my old laptop, and as there is not much space on it I wanted to remove the local copies of my OneDrive files. Apparently this was too much for the poor thing which had a complete breakdown. So now I have just finished a full reset and am finally ready to start again with a clean slate. Why does creating a bot army have to be so hard? The amount of effort required to make things easier is absurd.

Had a weird dream that I was best friends with Tom Cruise. There was no Scientology stuff though just regular hanging out. I think he liked me because I didn't care about the fame or money and just spoke to him like a regular dude but then at the end of the dream he randomly decided I'm "out" and he'd called me a taxi to leave.

I'm 100% sure this is all because I saw a poster for the new Mission Impossible movie at a tram stop last night. Fuck you, dream Tom Cruise. I'll still go see your movie though. Prick.
