The Red Dead port is pretty awesome because it's Red Dead, runs well, and looks good still. No dynamic resolution abuse here! Having Red Dead poker on the go is awesome, and while the lack of gyro aiming is a bit sad, it's got that standard Rockstar hard snapping aim assist, so as long as you're okay with that, then it's no huge deal.

That's good to know. I played it on PS3, and not in a mood to play it again, but great to have it for anyone who hasn't played it before, or may want to play it again.
It's a good fit for a portable system, surprisingly, due to all the different activities. You can throw it on, run a couple bounties or just play some cards, and put it back away.
When they eventually put it on sale I'm sure it'll be more appealing to more people, the price is up there, but they really did put work into the port job and it shows.
I played 2 first without play 1. Now I’ve started I was immediately connected to Marston. But also adjusting to gameplay will take a while. 1 after 2 feels like a stripped back mobile version of 2. Still enjoying.
I kinda like it, but I'm also used to it since I played them in release order. I like not having to worry about replenishing cores, I like not having to cock guns after firing them, I like being able to hold infinite animal skins and such, and that you just sell everything and don't need to worry about crafting and stuff.
2 is awesome too, but it leans more sim and 1 is more "arcadey" is a short way to explain the difference.
Sea of Stars and F Zero 99.
I’ve been really surprised at how much FZ has been holding my attention when I assumed it would just be a simple time killer for me. I’m having a lot of fun with it.
F-Zero 99 is really fun. I wasn't expecting it to enjoy that much either. I am really bad at it though.
Just gave F-Zero 99 a go. It's surprisingly fun and polished for a "free" game
But its a tough game. I am not even crossing 50. My last game I came 64th.
Definitely agree.
The Grand Prix mode was quite fun. I think my best finish is 5th so far….
Still playing Pikmin 4, I think I might be close to finishing. It's been fun, but I'm starting to feel a bit bored after almost 30 hours...
After yesterday's Direct I got Horizon Chase 2 which I was expecting on the Switch. It's a bit buggy (nothing major, just small things here and there), and the frame rate drops in some stages, but it's still quite fun and the music is amazing. Barry Leitch never disappoints 🙌
How long are remaining Pikmin games? Have you finished the main campaign?
Horizon Chase 2 looked pretty nice. Not much into racing, but this one looks fun. May check it out.
I think I'm at the last site of the main campaign. I've been playing pretty relaxed and getting 100% in each site. HowLongToBeat says it takes 38½ hours for "Completionists", so I'm guessing that'll be how long it takes me at least. But I'm in no rush 😅
Horizon Chase 2 is pretty fun, it's arcade racing, so pretty accessible for people who don't play realistic racing games like me (the only other racing game I play is Mario Kart!).
I also played some Smash Ultimate during the weekend and I'm seriously considering getting Nintendo Online again to play online (and also for F-Zero 99...).
Ah, so going for 100% completion, nice!
Yeah, I don't play realistic games, don't even play much arcade racers, but this one looks fun.
F-Zero 99 is really fun. Well, it was fun when I played it, but I gave up when I couldn't even reach top 50. 😀 It's one thing to beat "normal" AI, it's another to challenge online players.
I think I'm getting Nintendo Online soon. F-Zero 99 helped in that decision, I need to check it out!
This was Nintendo's plan all along. They finally got you too!
Did something unusual for me and picked up the Pokemon DLC and started it before finishing Tears of the Kingdom. Needed a break from TotK for a while anyway. Since it's only been out a couple days I don't think I've gotten too incredibly far into it, but it's still good ol' Pokemon fun so far. I just really wish Game Freak would put more effort into fixing the optimization (if they can) because almost a year in it still chugs in places it really shouldn't.
Horizon: Forbidden West in swedish in story mode for casual play.
I still haven't played it. How are you liking compared it to Zero Dawn?
I've just finished Ghost trick this week (I can recommend it if you are hesitant). 😎
Right now I'm few hours into Sea of stars, beautiful looking game, reminds me to golden sun a lot, hope it continues at this level.
When I get a break my partner steals the Switch and plays Shotgun king... I think he got very addicted to that one, if there would be a mobile phone version I'd definitely buy it for him 😄
Ghost trick is on my wish list. Thanks for the recommendation.
I have heard great things about Sea of Stars, and it has got rave reviews, so don't worry about it.
Shotgun King looks really fun. Is there any kind of campaign in it or is it just endless runs?
Shotgun king has a "throne mode" where you need to pass 12 levels on a row to get some sort of ending. But to be honest it does not have a lot of story, so you can count it as endless run as well. It's more the way of playing, where each level you pass you get to choose two random modifiers (good and bad) for the following level.
You also get additional weapons and modifiers each time you get to the ending and we haven't yet seen all, so it has reply value and maybe an extra ending 🤷♀️
Pokémon, I am gonna start the DLC as well as do some Mewtwo raid.
Gotta catch 'em all!
Good luck!
About halfway through Blue Reflection: Second Light
The story is fine, but I'm unsure about the battle system. At first I loved it, but building up a combo in every fight makes random encounters kind of a drag. I wouldn't mind this as I could just avoid them - however, you need to farm drops quite a lot for the crafting system.
Have you played the first Blue Reflection? How did you like it? Is this better or worse than that?
I did not. Back when Second Light released I've seen people praise the game for how much of an improvement it was. I planned on playing the first one anyway, but I could not find a physical copy.
If it's like that after big improvement, maybe the first one won't be very fun to play at all.
I've played the first one, it's not bad but it's too simple and somewhat repetitive. Felt to me like a game where the team working on it had a lot of ideas and ambition, but lacked the budget or skills to put them in pratice. At least the OST is amazing.
The second one is a major improvement in almost all aspects.
Thanks for the feedback!
Finished Atelier Marie Remake: The Alchemist of Salburg!
Most of my notes about this game are on my comment from last week, I finished it shortly after posting that and got the "Legendary Pair" ending. Pretty fun game, even it was kinda short and simple. Also, the time limit was no issue at all for me - I ended up running out of things to do way before I ran out of time.
Started Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe
I was originally planning on starting a new VN, but had a rough week and wasn't really up to doing a lot of reading.
So I picked up something simpler and relaxing. So far it's great, it's very similar in structure to the 3DS games which I loved. Finished the first two "Worlds", then spend a lot of time playing those silly minigames at Magoland.
Same here, had a rough week. Thinking about playing something that doesn't require much thinking, maybe couple of games of F-Zero 99.
About halfway through my first ever playthrough of Final Fantasy VI. All I can say is "Finally."
VI is wonderful. One really good note I heard from an analysis video was the presentation of VI feels and looks more like a play. A diorama playing out in front of you. So the dialogue and reactions is all based around this idea and setting. Because modern ff or most games in fact are told through a more cinematic lens and linear storytelling. This note might help you enjoy the story more I hope.
Yeah! By "finally," I mean that it's living up to the 30 years of hype haha. I'm playing the pixel remaster on Switch so it has actual vocals and HD-2D art style for the Opera scene. Definitely helps promote the stage play presentation and I enjoyed both versions when I watched the original SNES scene afterward.
FWIW I "liked" IV but was overall disappointed with it when I played it back in 2020 (my first FFs were 7 & 10 when I got my PS2 in 2001). Having a much different experience now with VI.
I'm nearly done with Final Fantasy 5, after having beat 3 and 4 back to back. 6 is up next!
I've been on a Final Fantasy kick for the last year after a long hiatus. I completed 1 & 2 over 20 years ago, and beat Tactics and Tactics Advance a few years after that. After a long gap, I finished 7 (the original) and Crisis Core Reunion within the last year.
My eventual goal is to beat every single-player Final Fantasy RPG, including sequels and spin-off series.
Damn, I envy you for getting to experience them for the first time! I didn't start until PlayStation 2 era so I'm in a more backwards order- did 7/10, 8, Tactics, 9, 12, 15, 7R before going back to 4 on PSP in 2020 and then Crisis Core & 16 earlier this year.
I have the GBA port of 1 & 2 but got bored at some point through 1. Also played maybe half of 13 when it was released according to Xbox achievements. I remember liking it actually but was a huge pothead at the time so my memory is a bit fuzzy. Have a strange nostalgia for it though so I plan on going back soon.
Just started replaying Pokemon Scarlet so will play a bit of that. Might look into getting the American track pack for Assetto Corsa Competizione since there are races this weekend at Indy.
Have fun!
Where are you playing Assetto Corsa Competizione? And how are you liking it?
On my PC. It is fun but can be tricky. Ended up playing F1 2023 instead this weekend.
I picked up Skyrim anniversary edition and have been enjoying the new content. I don't really have the energy right now to pick up a new game, so for now it's time to yell at dragons!
Have you created any specific build? For subsequent plays of Bethesda games, I go with a specific build, like archer assassin. 😁
I decided to join the vampires but was really disappointed in the story line. I'm a vampire naturalist who feeds on everyone he doesn't like. Lookimg at you Ancano.
Heh, Vampire naturalist sounds fun. I tried going Dark Mage Vampire. It was really powerful, at least for normal enemies, didn't fought any Dragons or Giants with that build. Maybe next time.
Probably do some path of exile, dead cells, lyne, maybe try the starfield on Xbox s I pay for the service might as well use it.
