Aren’t the books he’s reading passages from aimed at people over 18? Getting really tired of “Gender Queer” being trotted out as the boogyman.

Gender Queer is 18+ and Not All Boys Are Blue says 15+ on Amazon, so yeah, either adults or high school and up. They love to act like evil librarians are trying to give 2nd graders pornography, though.
They don't even want high schoolers to read that stuff. Not like they couldn't get it other places or that generally by high school kids have a grasp on their sexuality or are figuring it out. And books like that can really help kids who are in a tough spot, like being lgbtq+ and having an asshole like Kennedy here as a father.
Well yeah, if kids could figure out they're not the only ones that feel certain things, they might not feel like shit about themselves! God knows, we can't have that. If they have self-esteem, they might build a happy, healthy community instead of spending their lives repressed and miserable.
Repressed, suppressed, oppressed and generally just pressed is how we like it. I wish this was sarcasm.
Even Gender Queer isn’t that bad. It’s got a single frame of objectionable material. I would say that something like Watchman has much more objectionable material, but nobody is clamoring for removing that from libraries.
If this lot understood Watchmen, they’d ban that too.
Now I want to see Alan Moore testify before Congress…
I disagree. Gender Queer talks about going to websites like kink.com to explore sexuality. That’s not high school material. That site is hardcore BSDM.
It’s an important book, but it’s not for kids.
Here in lies the issue: define “kids”
Most people use it as “young children” and not “teenagers”. So I agree that 3rd graders shouldn’t be reading it, but if you think most high schoolers aren’t at least familiar with BSDM, you’re pretty naive. I teach middle school and some of these students have gotten into stuff that still shocks me.
cool let’s ban all pornographic literature too. watch the karen’s rise up at the ban of their smut romance novels.
