Ads will be blocked.
I have too much to watch because of *arr and still keep watching YouTube instead. Finally that problem will solve itself soon.
Is there an *arr for YouTube yet? Preferably one with a keyword black-list feature? Also love (/s) that every fucking Google search feeds into YouTube. "You searched for 'how to use rj45 crimper' a week ago, here's 20 videos that you never ducking asked for!"
I've been using Nebula for the past few months.
I really miss a lot of the basic functionality of YouTube though. It's really hard to find videos, especially older ones. If I pause a video, leave the app open, and come back a few hours later it often gets stuck on a black screen, and when I try to go back to that video it forgets my progress. I wish there were playlists. It's very much a bare bones video hosting platform.
I know they're still young and improving so I'm hoping they can do stuff like that eventually.
This looks like a change for creators, not for the end users, so for those worried feel free to continue to use ad blockers/piped/revanced etc.
At this point if you're not already using invidious/piped then you like unnecessary suffering. The barrier between "video with ads" and "ads with a video" was passed years ago.
Buhbye YouTube. Esad.
I wonder if yt-dlp will still work.
I've had a couple ads make it past uO in recent weeks, at this rate I'll have to go to a library for entertainment by 2030
Younglings are already on tiktok most of the time. Only old fogeys stick with youtube and now Google is going to piss them off to.
