Absolutely no defense of GamerGate and other right-wing harassment campaigns, no TERFs and transphobia, racism, dismissing of war crimes and praise of fascists. This includes “JAQing off”, intentionally asking leading questions while pretending to be a neutral party. This also applies to other forms of authoritarianism and authoritarian or criminal actions by liberal or leftist governments.

He's not really that great a songwriter or a singer. There was hundreds of musicians that were far more talented than him during his time. Dude wore makeup and sang spooky music with a little anti establishment thrown in. He was a great showman but over all didn't contribute much other than fashion and a little rebellion. His shock rock show is kinda dated and a little cringy.

This isn't surprising if you've been keeping track of his opinions at all over the past few decades. He's been a far right wing religious hack for years. Him openly stating he's a bigot shouldn't really be a shock to anyone.

That - unfortunately - is my impression too. Currently we see the "great reshuffling" as celebs dare to openly admit to their bigotry.

A lot of people think he's fantastic just because he's nice to fans, but he's not such a nice person if you're LGBTQIA, atheist, or otherwise fall outside of his narrow opinions about what's acceptable
It's kinda like people think my community is "friendly," but not so much if you're black, gay, trans, undocumented, or anything else that falls outside the norm
