This is the best summary I could come up with:

A Chinese rights activist and critic of President Xi Jinping has fled the country on a jet ski, travelling more than 300 kilometres to South Korea, where he was arrested by the coastguard.

Wearing a life vest and helmet, the man crossed the Yellow Sea on a 1,800cc jet ski from Shandong province, using binoculars and a compass to navigate and towing five barrels of fuel.

South Korea-based campaigner Lee Dae-seon, from the Dialogue China NGO, said the escapee was Chinese rights activist Kwon Pyong.

"He refilled the petrol on the ride and dumped the empty barrels into the sea," the coastguard said on Tuesday (local time).

When his jet ski got stuck in tidal flats near a cruise terminal at the western port city of Incheon, he called for rescue.

Mr Kwon, 35, had posted pictures on social media mocking Chinese President Xi Jinping, and spent time in jail in China for subversion, Mr Lee told the AFP news agency on Tuesday.

Just the best bot folks, and I was - I mean - I was of course always the first one to say it, and now everyone’s saying it, that this is the best, and we mean it and they mean it, the best bot there is

using binoculars and a compass to navigate and towing five barrels of fuel.

This guy was prepared AF, towed 5 barrels to refuel along the way 😳 damn

I was going to ask how far that was. Jeez.

Now I can ask how long did that take? *Googling says average jetski is 90 km/h, so about 3.5 hours, but he's pulling 5 barrels.

300 kilometers for anyone not reading the article. He

crossed the Yellow Sea on a 1,800cc jet ski from Shandong province, using binoculars and a compass to navigate and towing five barrels of fuel.

I went in wondering how far a jetski could get you. Pretty impressive.

This could work as an ad for whatever company made that jetski

[–] [email protected] 17 points 1 year ago

Look! It wasn't in the shop for a whole 3.5 hours!

[–] MetalAirship 3 points 1 year ago

Its a Yamaha, the only brand of jet ski that could possibly go that far without breaking

[–] [email protected] 29 points 1 year ago

That’s the top speed lol. I rented a jet ski once, 130bhp and it could do 70kmh. At that speed it’s super tiring lol

[–] [email protected] 21 points 1 year ago (2 children)

At 60kph which a 1.8 litre jetski should be able to handle fine, that's 5 hours minimum. Considering he would have had to stop for gas and stretch his legs, add a few hours extra.

[–] FiskFisk33 29 points 1 year ago

towing five barrels would slow that to a crawl methinks

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 year ago

Hopefully the coffee is better in the sea than it is at truck stops.

I wonder how long it would take to cross larger bodies of water, and how many barrels you'd need to tow.

Goddam, based on his previous actions he clearly had the balls to do it, but still, that's pretty nuts!! Lol

[–] [email protected] 21 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I hope the sea wasn’t too choppy for him

when I rode through thunderstorm last time it kept hitting my balls.

Had to stand up lol.

Next day it felt like somebody gave me cock and ball torture or sth 🤣🤣

[–] ODuffer 5 points 1 year ago

The weight of his balls slowed him down a fair bit...
