Already deleted, but this is the exact quote:

“How do I log out of this?

Haven’t worked here in weeks. Anyway, the NBA overextends it’s social media employees greatly to the detriment of their health and social lives for a salary of less than $50k annually after taxes.

I worked 14 hour shifts without breaks at times. Shoutout Adam Silver.

We don’t get health insurance until 90 days on the job! That’s silly isn’t it?

Glad I resigned, no need for a job to get in the way of your happiness.

Donate to mental health causes ✌️”

He then went on to make another post promoting his own social media management company…

Why would anyone else ever trust him with a social media account??

[–] [email protected] 81 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Oof. Went from okay to trashy real quick.

[–] suenoromis 5 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Genuinely curious, what's trashy about this post?

[–] [email protected] 20 points 2 years ago (1 children)

It’s okay to call out your shitty employer, but to promote your own business with the same breath takes away the gravitas of the call out. Makes it seem contrived to build your brand rather than an authentic call out.

It wasn't their employer, it was an ex employer who has bad security practices. They get to feel that burn.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 years ago

It's not this post that is trashy, it's the one they allegedly posted about promoting their other current company. Wtf.

The only thing burned here is the bridge between this guy and the NBA. If you value networking and reputation, this isn’t the move.

[–] [email protected] 48 points 2 years ago

Lmao not only is it incredibly "unprofessional," but the post literally starts with "How do I log out of this?" Not exactly inspiring confidence haha.

There's no such thing as bad publicity. I used to think that was hyperbole, but after watching the orange guy, the long rat, the nerdy book of faces guy, the puffy lips ladies with a famous lawyer daddy, and a slew of other people outrage themselves to the top, I believe it.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 2 years ago

Did he? You'd think he'd want to not draw attention to his social media management company while simultaneously burning bridges.....

[–] [email protected] 11 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

he can't be a whole lot worse than most people who choose to interact with twitter as a career.. i mean the kid looked at facebook and said: that's the life for me.. i already don't like him..

The American way.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 years ago

The real smart thing is to promote a competitor's social media management company. Make them suffer the bad press.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 years ago

just a hunch, but i don't think they "resigned" from their nba job.

50K a year after taxes to post LeBron memes? Where do I sign up?

[–] [email protected] 34 points 2 years ago

It's the 14 hour shifts and not enough paid leaves that would bother me, no matter how much they pay

[–] droans 10 points 2 years ago (1 children)

That's my takeaway.

I make about $50K after taxes which I think is pretty good. But I guess maybe that guy lives in a HCOL area while I'm living in Indy. My salary wouldn't go as far in a lot of the larger metro areas.

[–] [email protected] 21 points 2 years ago (1 children)

If the 14 hour shifts mean 70 hours a week, then that's bad pay. That's about 20k a year base salary and the rest in overtime. If they even pay overtime

[–] nooo -1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

In what dialect of English does "at times" mean "every single workday"?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

The "at times" part could be in relation to "without breaks". He is working 14 hour shifts, at times without break. Still doesn't mean he would work 70 hours every week but I assume anyone who mentions they have to work 14 hour shifts does so regulary that they are working more than the standard 40 hour week. And that has to be considered when talking about the salary. The 70 hours would be "worst case scenario".

[–] nooo -1 points 2 years ago

Ok, so if you exaggerate what is already likely a misrepresentation, it's really bad. Congrats

[–] Crashumbc 3 points 2 years ago

You missed the 14 hour days part. And if they are required to live in LA or some shit. 50k is almost nothing.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 2 years ago (2 children)

... And add that to my pile of reasons to never get verified.

There should always be some form of plausible deniability from social media accounts, and the guy controlling the offical account could have done much, much worse just by having a blue checkmark if they are intending on revenge.

[–] Iusedtobeanadventurer 9 points 2 years ago

It's not clear to me what you're getting at here... Then again, the bucket full of shit I don't understand is a much heavier bucket than the one with shit I do understand.

[–] t0lo 5 points 2 years ago (2 children)

are you actually Margot Robbie?

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Yes, of course I am.

But again, as I've explained, I will never get verified here.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 years ago

Why would Academy Award nominated character actress Margot Robbie ever lie to you? ☺️

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 years ago

Works for me.

I love how we went from "Ha! The lowly intern who run this company on Twitter is hilarious" to thinking there's no way they would run their official accounts with interns but actual marketing managers. Little did we know we were right all along.
