This is an off-the-cuff brainstorm to grow /c/NBA and the fediverse.

Lemmy and the fediverse have scene solid and steady growth since the reddi API-ocalypse.

However, we had a more active year our first year compared to this year (so far) in /c/NBA. Probably in no small part to the lack of high seas support on this instance.

I have been pondering on how to grow this community but also make it unique in NBA/sports fandom.

I am gravitating towards some group-oriented ideas--a little pretend gambling, a little streamlined fantasy sportsing (hyper simplified), some end of season award voting, etc.

Before elaborating on anything in particular: does anyone have some big ideas they've been sitting on they'd like to share? I will share some below as well.

For the curious, the largest margin of victory ever in an NBA game was 73 points, when the Memphis Grizzlies defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder 152–79 on December 2, 2021.

This was a 59 point margin of victory, setting a new franchise record for both the Clippers and the Nets.

Good article on how much a steal Westbrook has been for the Nuggets this season.

Also interesting:

Against the Nets, Westbrook recorded his own triple-double, scoring 25 points while grabbing 11 rebounds and handing out 10 assists. He and Jokić became the first duo in NBA history to record a 25-point triple-double in the same regular-season game.

Thunder shut down Mitchell but the rest of the Cavs, lead by Garland, Allen and Mobley, won the game even without a big contribution in point from the All Star point guard. A game to be seen!
