My boss had me fire two loyal employees this week because they stood up for our customers

[–] PhatalFlaw 33 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Sounds like it's time to dust off the resume!

Already have 3 offers but waiting for one more. Company has been going downhill for a while

In my experience, how your boss tells you to treat your staff is exactly how they're going to treat you.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago

Well, that's a very promising thing to hear for me right now, lol. Thank you!

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago

Man that sucks. I'm sorry for them and you

What's y'all favorite type of cake?

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I'm having a lemon cake phase right now. It's so refreshing and it doesn't give me that full icky feeling that chocolate does when you eat too much.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago

I'll be buying a lemon drizzle cake tomorrow for a friend's birthday.

If it does I change my answer. I feel like cheesecake is more of a pie but I like pie more

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

Oh yeah I can see how it's kinda like a pie. Categories are hard. Chocolate pie and good key lime pies are my favorite pies. I've got a big sweet tooth...

Strawberry cake, but wont say no to a chocolate one.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago

I like basic cakes, vanilla, chocolate, funfetti. If you start involving fruit you're losing me. I'll be polite and eat it and even enjoy it a bit but I'd much prefer the sugary nonsense.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago

Pie.

Jokes aside, a good carrot or spice cake takes the (heh) cake.

Cheesecakes. There's no match

[–] PhatalFlaw 5 points 1 year ago

Angel food cake w/strawberries!

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago

Any kind of upside-down cake with the fruits in it.

I also love fruitcake, while on the topic

Do brownies count as cake?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

Not sure, I'm not much of a cake specialist, but they do look similar don't they?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

They're made similarly too. If they don't count, I'd choose carrot cake. With REAL carrots, not the common artificial carrot stuff.

I have 2 semesters left of school. Glad to be finishing soon and starting my career. But low key dreading being a wage slave in the system that doesn't value its workers.

What would you like to talk about: (but didnt bother to create a post about it) ?

Why you aren't Lemmying hard enough so you have unposted topics up your sleeve.

[–] Vcio 14 points 1 year ago (1 children)

People like to lurk, often avoid posting by fear/laziness/shyness to open a conversation.

What's your favorite piece of clothing you own and why?

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 year ago (2 children)

This oversized shirt! It's soooo comfy and cozy and roomy. It's been my favorite wardrobe staple for months now! Plus it's got a cool fish on the pocket.

I found a blue dress with suns, moons, and stars about a week after coming out as Androgyne(Androgynous Non-Binary). It has fucking pockets!

It was my first piece of clothing I bought that made me feel right. I almost had a breakdown in the changing room because the way it fit made my body look exactly how I want to all the time.

Sadly, I haven't had the chance to wear it out much, thanks to living right in a chunk of states who think I have no right to exist.

Cargo shorts, the amount of times it saved me from carrying by hand a bunch of documents or tools were worth against fashion prejudice.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Just wear long leg cargo pants.

I'm not sure, I'm not a huge clothes critic, though I don't like clothes that seem forced if that makes sense. I guess you could say my turquoise leather jacket since I like not being too cold. They don't have heating at the library so most "what are you wearing" questions would include outerwear; currently wearing the jacket over a melon colored plaid shirt, light jeans, short black/white socks/shows, and lavender bra/panties.

How do I get started with Mastodon? Are there multiple instances to choose from like Lemmy, or do you just sign up on mastodon.social?

Also, it looks like you can access Lemmy communities from there - so how is it different than just using Lemmy?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

First part: there are different instances.

Second part: I have only heaed but not experienced this cross-talk of Lemmy and Mastodon. So cannot help you there.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

There are many instances. you're free to choose one in particular(maybe one specialized in your language or hobby or country) or just go with one of the big ones like mastodon.social. See https://joinmastodon.org/servers

Yes you can subscribe to lemmy communities and new posts will appear in your mastodon feed.

Nothing major. I have a few things I wanted to post in different places, but the federated aspect of Lemmy is glitching me out of communities like Casual Conversation for example. I also have a few post questions that I haven't asked because they might come across as emotivist, as well as some promotional stuff and the kind of thing that would get you run off of Imgur except on Christmas.
