Isn't this the plot of The Lorax?
They showed us this kind of stuff back when I was in school. It is worse now how they put so much fear in the youth. This has not happened and never will happen.

Didn't people already have life-threatening breathing issues this summer due to smoke and particulate? Were they significant, or just other people?

Trends indicate it's happening, just we don't use that kind of mask anymore.
The wildfires are started by people, not the climate. Some of the arsonists were caught and fined. Why did they start the fire if it was intentional is up for speculation. However some of these fires were accidential.
Trends? Depends how they are displayed? Lot of climate change groups show charts going back to 1970 or so. Rarely they show anything before then. Be careful when you see a statistic, chart or alarmist message being shared since it is always protrayed to make the situation appear to be out of control and in crisis.
