No, because Noctua is not just a color scheme it is a company known for making quality fans. I don't care about brands. I care about quality products and as far as I'm aware they have never produced headphones before or know anything about making headphones.

What?

Considering this is a mock-up for Sony x Noctua, I would assume it would be manufactured by Sony, who has made plenty of headphones, for a long time. The color scheme is borrowed from Noctua and as far I’m concerned they’re experts at beige.

I understand the headphones in this scenario would be made by Sony which is why it being partnered with Noctua seems kind of pointless. They don't bring anything to the table when it comes to headphones beyond the color scheme.

wouldn't be the first time noctua took part in something that's quite a bit removed from their regular products, though. Drop sells a noctua -colored custom keycap set, for example.

Oh yes, a colab with a fan company, that’s a great idea. Personally I would love a Bose/Whirlpool edition.

Why not Trojan™ and Western Digital?

I bet everyone would be all over that collab.

I mean, if those XM4 are anything like the XM5, a fan would be a welcome addition lol

I wouldn't. Noctua makes fans.

[–] Mr_Blott 1 points 1 year ago

The only noctua product I bought was 97% packaging. I think I remember seeing a fan, right enough

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Then those neck fans.

Noctua makes solid products, but personally I don't like the brown/tan color scheme.

[–] HRDS_654 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

The brown is too nice looking to be Noctua brown.

[–] Carighan 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yeah I was thinking that, too. Both the beige and the brown are off, they're more like bone and copper, which looks nice. Noctua uses very distinct colors, but they only work well because they're on fans that are hidden away, they're not "pretty" colors. And do not have to be, either!

[–] HRDS_654 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I agree, but I also can't deny there is something to be said for "ugly chic". Not sure if that's a thing but it sounds good in my head.

EDIT: Apparently it is a thing and was invented by Prada from what I could find.

  1. I've never liked that colour scheme, I've always bought the grey colours whenever possible.
  2. This is not their core competency, why'd I get that?
[–] Hazdaz 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

What does this have to do with fans??

[–] baked_tea 4 points 1 year ago

For both fans of sony and fans of noctua

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Unless the ANC is somehow better because of Noctua no I don't think this would be a good pairing. I even like the colors but there should be a point to a partnership.

[–] cryptiod137 1 points 1 year ago

I guess I could see something like, we used our knowledge of computer sounds to tune out your PC running?

But yeah it's pretty silly

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

No I wouldn't buy them, the speakers would be too quiet!

[–] gk99 3 points 1 year ago

No, I can almost guarantee you, without doing any research into these, that I would strongly prefer my Steelseries Arctis Pro Nova wireless headphones. A few years back, my dream headset was the Arctis Pro Wireless but with better adjustability for my apparently large head, and after years of dIcking around with the HyperX Cloud II Wireless and getting tired of it constantly cutting out, I went looking and found that Steelseries had made just that (and this time with ANC).

If Noctua made a booster pack for my headphones, I'd buy that, though.

[–] RoyalEngineering 3 points 1 year ago

Everybody hating in here.

I like the brown! I would buy it! Noctua or not, I think the color looks cool.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I would buy the best headphones I can afford with my budget. Branding is irrelevant, only performance and quality matters.

[–] Presi300 1 points 1 year ago

If it was worth actually good headphones, yes

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Probably not if it's actually Sony. But if they paired with a headphone brand I already trust to make good headphones and they have fans in them that keep my ears cool and comfortable (and somehow don't mess with the sound quality in the process, through sorcery I guess?) then I'm in.

Not quite what you’re describing but that made me thing of the Dyson Zone
