Custom.
Way of the shadow monk. Named Naruto Uchiha. He's a dwarf with pineapple shaped yellow hair. Its a monstrosity built purely to meme with my friends playthrough. Its great.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is a story-rich, party-based RPG set in the universe of Dungeons & Dragons, where your choices shape a tale of fellowship and betrayal, survival and sacrifice, and the lure of absolute power. (Website)

Multi into Trickster Cleric, so you can Invoke Duplicity for shadow clones. :P
Now that's a good idea!
I picked the edgiest start, The Dark Urge. :p
I really liked that they made an origin character with a baked in story but didn't give it strong characterization so you could customize it entirely. I really like the origin stories but feel as little constrained sometimes.
Planning to explore the new powers so went Vengeance Paladin for a decent face who can still rush in.
Custom human paladin. I'm super vanilla with my choices so lawful good avoiding using my worm at all costs.
Until I read the second comment, I thought you meant your pant worm, and I respected your RP ethic. Still do I guess
LOL
I am playing old human bearded Wizard. I found a wizard hat to cover my balding head. I am looking to learn find familiar so I can have a pet.
I heard one of the devs said it's better not to pick an origin character for your first playthrough, so I made a custom one.
She's a mephistopheles tiefling bard noble. I'm trying to make a kind-hearted roleplaying character to compensate for the violent monk my friend made :P
I'm excited about all the different spells I can get, especially the "social" ones. There are so many options to choose from that I feel overwhelmed, in a good way :)
Did the dev give a reason for that? Just curious.
So that you first experience their stories as a third party, and later have the option of experiencing them from their own perspective.
Yup, this. You can recruit them in your party and see what they say about your actions, so you get to know them that way first.
Thanks and it makes sense.
Well for which first playthrough?
For my solo good playthrough I'm going half elf lore bard.
For friend A playthrough I'm going high elf storm sorcerer.
For friend B I'm going half orc battle master fighter.
For friends C and D I'm going our original DND characters so half elf rogue
Never played any of the previous Baldur's Gate games, despite being a PC gamer since the early 90s. I don't know how, but there you have it.
I'm playing a Githraki Sorcerer. I'm really enjoying it so far.
My only issue is that I'm having trouble getting used to the movement and camera controls. Other than some time on the original NWN games back in the day, I've only been playing Diablo games and FPS for decades, so I don't know if I'm missing something or if I'm just too accustomed to those types of controls. Or I'm just getting too old. 😁
I am old. Playing with a controller is way easier. You move the character and the camera follows you.
I didn't like the keyboard/mouse curser click character move and having to move the camera to him.
You can have the camera move automatically by double clicking the character portrait or pressing the home key
More than half the time when I press the home key, the camera zooms in on my character but facing the front of my character which is almost never what I want.
How is that easier?
Mouse and keyboard is smooth as silk and controls resemble all other crpg's
Doing a custom character for my multiplayer campaign with friends (I made a criminal halfling bard which I find hilarious) and on my solo playthrough I went with Wyll.
Half-drow dark urge warlock. Interesting reactions to my race so far.
Solo play, doing a paladin and making a very conscious effort to not use the brain slug powers.
In my play through with friends, I'm a monk.
In EA I tried the eldritch knight, a moon druid, and beast master ranger.
I first picked Barbarian so I could mess with Athletics, then restarted and picked Warlock because I thought I'd save that fun for multiplayer, then restarted and picked Druid because I realized I want to do stuff I hadn't tried and don't recall seeing a druid companion in the trailers.
Bard life!
Rural download speeds interfered with the planned multiplayer run, so I've started a human (basically just for shield prof) GOOlock gish* playthrough (party not nailed down, but probably primarily Gale/Shadowheart/Karlach) so I can scratch the itch without spoiling too much content for myself.
*Devil's Sight works and Pact of the Blade is in, let's go. :P Might multi into Rogue, Fighter or Pally (or maybe Sorc, although w/o weapon cantrips that's less synergistic now) to maximize the memes, but I haven't decided.
Oh damn, I didn’t put it together that Wyll and Gale can both use shields. That’s very cool. I’m running a gith MC warlock with shadow/gale/Karlach and it’s feeling strong, but I now wish I’d just started with Wyll
Hermit, half-orc, way of the 4 elements monk.
Dark gnome thief. Finding out how bullshit the theft discovery mechanics are though.
I'm playing a warlock/sorcerer half elf
High Elf Sorcerer. I was torn between Sorcerer, Rogue and Monk.
Played a few hours last night. It seems very well balanced on the medium difficulty. Fights were the right amount of challenging.
Custom Drow spore druid with 1 level in monk.
For MP with my husband I'm doing a sorlock "anyway, I started blasting" halfelf. For single player I'm definitely doing dark urge but still haven't decided on a class even though I've had a long time to think about it...
The bearfucker of course
For MP, I think I've settled on Tiefling Pally. She'll be a bit of a dummy, but that's what happens when you get no formal education and are raised by a local preacher turned town defender.
I also wanna try a monk but I'm not sure yet how that goes. Maybe on my solo playthrough.
Half elf druid
Trying to recreate my favorite tabletop character, a tiefling celestial bladelock. Probably gonna have to multiclass into cleric or druid for the heals and his backstory obviously can't be done, but he's a much better melee fighter than the tabletop version ever was.
I really wanted to play a Shadow Blade gish, but neither that spell, Bladesinger or the Blade-cantrips are in the game. There was a mod that added them for EA, but that obviously needs updating.
I probably can't make myself wait until they're updated, so I might make a Dark Urge Gloomstalker Assassin in the meantime. Maybe try adding in Shadow Monk instead of Fighter for a different, less powergamey flavour.
Mephistopheles Tiefling Pallock. Yes, I know they’re OP, but I love the blend of abilities and the interesting character possibilities. Haven’t decided yet if I’ll be an Oathbreaker or not.
Happy and merry drow bard. Unsure what my multi class would be yet
Anyone have suggestions?
I can’t decide between half orc barbarian or drow warlock
Dark Urge Gith Warlock, great old one patron.
Already had two extra tenants in my head, three's a party with the tadpole.
It's gonna be dark.
I've gone hexblade Warlock. I had one going in a DND campaign as an attempt to import Dante from DMC into it, which didn't work out but turned out to be a fun class anyways.
I was really tempted to play The Dark Urge.
halfling rogue because i am a stereotype.
Dragonborn druid! I had a hard time deciding between druid and bard so ill probably play bard next. My partner is playing the dark urge as well very interested to see it play out compared to the custom character
No idea what am doing but I want to speak to animals and trees.
Half-elf draconic sorcerer with charlatan background. I'm attempting to trick and persuade my way through Faerun and when that doesn't work, a fireball usually does.
Multiplayer: Tiefling Cleric of Ilmater, chronic good boy who feels he has to atone for a misspent youth. I felt inspired and ended up writing a page of backstory for him that I'm sure will never come into play, but maybe I'll play him on tabletop someday!
Singleplayer: Wanted to do an evil campaign to contrast, ended up playing way more of this one than multiplayer, oops. Male drow Assassin/Gloom Stalker to romance Minthara.
There are other companion romances I want to try out and so many builds that sound fun! And I have to play a Dragonborn at some point, they look so beautiful! It's really tempting to start another new campaign even though I'm not out of Act 1 yet!
