Showerthoughts

A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted, clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts: 1

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. No politics
    • If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
    • A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
    • If you feel strongly that you want politics back, please volunteer as a mod.
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report the message goes away and you never worry about it.

Like AAA studios do, I frantically edit my creation after unwisely releasing it prematurely to try to salvage some goodwill with people.

...maybe I missed my calling as a AAA game studios owner!?!

Me too. It's called drafts. First draft, second draft, etc. It's only natural that you will find bugs, think of better ways to say stuff, realize stuff. It's organic and proper.

It's organic and proper.

Where the fuk did I state I want to be proper?

You're not getting paid for comments, though.

Given the amount of time I spent recommending people silly things and providing my opinion unprompted it is actually pretty hilarious I am unpaid.

I am sure some paid trolls have looked at my obsessive posting sometimes and been like... -like wait who is supersquirrel getting paid by though?.

Joke is on them, I just have ADHD and love the fediverse.

...though being mistaken for being a bot from just being annoyingly ADHD does hurt sometimes, not gonna lie, I get it but I am just a weirdo more than you might expect shrugs

I didn't mean this as a humble brag about my posting and comments being the shit, my posts and comments are in fact shit

All I know I've seen way shittier posts and comments, and, quite frankly AAA games than your comments mate.

Promise everything, deliver just short of something, then charge people for the rest of the comment in DLC style payments.

For $10 i will italicize my comments in reply to you.

Or maybe I could label all my new comments as Early Access and my poor grammar and sentence "structure" could then just part of the exciting experience of being the first to experience them..

Just say that it’s a Beta comment and all will be forgiven

[–] owenfromcanada 7 points 2 days ago (2 children)

If you want, you can buy the early access pass to all of my comments. For $60USD, I'll send you all of my rambling and error-riddled comments before they're made available to the public.

Make it $70 and you've got a deal

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 days ago

No, don't just give them to me, lock them under special spoiler warnings that are like mini-lootboxes I have to pay to unlock and see. Maybe the comment is useful, maybe it is a low effort stupid joke, you don't know until after you have already wasted your money!

  • Publish prematurely in an attempt to take advantage of the momentum.
  • Notice that there are grammatical, spelling, and typographical mistakes.
  • Edit, attempt to explain the edits, while also introducing more mistakes.

Rinse and repeat.

It's okay if there are patch notes, right? Right??

Tracking down my references to obscure cognitive science podcasts gives people a sense of pride and accomplishment.

…much like the escalation from vegetarianism to local-first, as described by McRaney’s guest whose book cover features a rubber duck.
