What the hell is a "potent" anti aging product, I always assumed these were useless products made to prey on the insecurities of aging women

Off the top of my head,

  • Retinol can damage your skin if used without sun protection and can cause permanent eye dryness if it gets in your eyes
  • Many skin products contain varying levels of acids that need to be used according to directions
  • Niacinamide requires a prescription for certain amounts that could be reached with OTC products if used in excess

and then there's just the general fucking up of skin oil balance, etc. that can set off years of fighting dry skin or acne.

The battle ended in a stalemate, but half a year later you suddenly get a +20 XP pop-up.

^ This!

I learned the retinol lesson the hard way. I used to use retin-a daily, and wasn't careful about getting it near my eyes because I wasn't sensitive to it.

I now have chronic dry eye, this eventually got so bad I couldn't see, and had to go get ipl treatments once a month, have the meibomian glands expressed, and have punctal plugs placed every month, then every few months. (don't google any of that)

After it got "better" I only have to do this stuff every 6 months...

It's expensive.

Stay safe kids, never put a retinol near your eyes.

Rentinoids were first used as anti-acne treatments. Retin-A in the US burned like a MF and would cause the skin to peel. This works to remove slight wrinkles.

Retinoids actually reverse wrinkles

Lest they pop out of existence.

Retinoids are also potent anti-acne medication, so that's awkward
