Summary

Four New York City deputy mayors resigned amid growing controversy over allegations that Mayor Eric Adams engaged in a quid pro quo to have federal corruption charges dropped.

The Justice Department directed the Southern District of New York to dismiss the case, prompting resignations within the U.S. attorney’s office.

Governor Kathy Hochul and other top Democrats are weighing options, including potential removal.

Adams remains defiant and insists he can lead through turmoil as critics demand his resignation. A federal judge is expected to rule on the case’s dismissal soon.

Great video by legal eagle on the subject. This is very reminiscent of Nixon's Saturday night massacre where many high ranking officers resigned in order to not carry out unlawful orders.

Hey, something stinks and it's not these resignations. This fucking governor is useless. Good job NY.

I was unaware NYC had 4 deputy mayors. That seems like 3 too many??

NYC is the result of 5 different cities merging together. I asume that there is a deputy mayor for each borough

I looked into it. They have deputy mayors for specific functions, like Health/Education/Finance/etc. Los Angeles has 3 deputy mayors, which was a surprise to me as someone who has lived here for 20 years. Also a surprise to me: one of our deputy mayors called in a fake bomb threat to City Hall 2 years ago. How did I not hear about that??

TIL, i guess o should have looked into that rather than just making an assumption and running with it.
