“Are you sick of being targeted and harassed by the I.R.S.? Well maybe it’s time that somebody audited them for a change!” Trump wrote.

That's something that has never happened to a significant portion of American citizens. The only people I see complain about it are either sovcits or really bad businessmen.

This is definitely signaling to the former Tea Partiers and sovcits and suchlike. For some reason none of them can understand that "I don't need to pay any taxes, ever again, and neither should you" tends to get the IRS' attention.

In my industry I've worked as a contractor and an employee. The very first year I worked as a contractor, my wife and I were audited. Being audited increases your likelihood to be audited again 10x.

So many of these guys working as contractors say they pay like 3% tax. I generally paid about 22% because I didn't cheat. They cheat it up down sideways and twice on Sunday.

They will rationalize it whatever way they like. And yes contractor employment can and is commonly abused so your employer in all but name doesn't have to pay payroll taxes. In my state that was 12% of the tax I owed. We were obviously getting screwed by our non employer so why not screw back is the common thing.

If assholes like Elon wreck the IRS, why should I pay? I'm going to file for an extension and pay the penalties if the IRS still exists in October.

Well if you earn a good salary expect to start seeing ads for cybertrucks.

I got audited, paid $8k of owed taxes plus interest (on a salary of like $36k) after the accountant I hired fucked up. I did not whine and hide my taxes or attempt to disassemble the IRS.

Isn't it crazy though? Makes you wonder how much it costed them to do this audit compared to what they got you to pay back. I'm not saying it's not fair, it's just nuts that they can care that much about the little change that this is compared to actual people committing tax fraud every year willingly and possibly never get caught.

Straight from the horse's mouth they don't have enough funding to go after the big guys so they do small time busts. I've said this before but for every dollar in IRS funding the US got $5 back. You would think doge would be all over this quintuple tax revenue thing. It's almost like they're not genuine at all.

Maybe now we can get copies of Trump's tax returns for the past 10 years.

Someone should leak Trump and Musk tax returns since DOGE leaks like a sieve.

How much of this access will benefit Elon in finding out what his business rivals are up to?

Hilarious if they just fired the entire IRS and replaced them with AI....sir, you are under arrest for owing taxes, no grace period.
