[–] [email protected] 23 points 2 days ago

GOP hard at work on those egg prices.

[–] [email protected] 57 points 2 days ago (1 children)

That's gotta be the dumbest thing I've seen today or maybe even the last week.

[–] FlyingSquid 21 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Are you sure? There’s so much…

[–] [email protected] 13 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yeah... There is no way this is more dumb than saying "T bills might not be worth anything"

[–] FlyingSquid 6 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Dear god, I missed that one. I'll just add it to the pile.

Edit: Holy shit. https://newrepublic.com/article/191367/trump-treasury-default-bond-market

"Flood the zone." Steve Bannon

[–] [email protected] 25 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

I laughed at this very loudly.

This is peak r/NotTheOnion.

Here's the bill from Georgia rep Buddy Carter: https://www.congress.gov/bill/119th-congress/house-bill/1161

[–] [email protected] 13 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Okay but real talk, what is this designed to distract attention from? There’s gotta be something

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 day ago

Everything. Their intent is to overwhelm at all times. Bannon likes to say flooding the zone.* He admits this publicly.

*Flooding the swamp.

The fact that this administration is flat out refusing to comply with judicial decisions. This is literally the "you and whose army" stage of our trip down authoritarian hell where the executive dares the judicial to enforce their decisions.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Yeah refusing to follow the legislature or the judicial branch. It's so obvious but much of the Pubs refuse to believe it's not how our government works normally. I'm really starting to understand how those are you smarter than a 5th grader shows did well. None of them could pass a basic civics class it seems.

[–] FlyingSquid 24 points 2 days ago (1 children)

You won't be surprised to learn that he's a Republican representing Georgia.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

His name is Earl, but he goes by "Buddy."

[–] FlyingSquid 2 points 2 days ago

I honestly don't know which is worse.

[–] WrenFeathers 7 points 1 day ago

We need to collectively ignore this shit and stay on point.

[–] AbidanYre 21 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I would be so fucking embarrassed to have him as my representative.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 2 days ago

So would his constituents, if they could read.

Idiocracy was never more prophetic than it is in our timeline. All it's missing are the stasis coffins.

I wish you guys could have President Camacho. He at least cared about things enough to trust running the country to the smartest man on earth

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 day ago

I'd be quite pleased with President Camacho at this point. He was at least engaged and charismatic. He was interested in making things better and publicly worked towards good things.

In Magaocracy, Muskolini is the smartest

Is the map naming stuff separate from the purchase? Are we just going to start renaming other peoples' lands?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 day ago

So can Canada make a law stating the country to the south shall henceforth be called the Untrustworthy Shithole of America? Will google, apple, etc. show that on the maps for Canadians?

[–] HorreC 5 points 2 days ago

its like they are all 3 years old. I cant get over the idea that these are lawmakers.

[–] moshankey 4 points 2 days ago

So, is this something that one throws together while sitting on the potty, or are the taxpayers paying someone to put in a fair amount of time and effort to come up with this waste? Just asking.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 days ago

I mean... beyond the utmost stupidity of the US renaming everything internally. We're basically setting up for everything to work like our measurements system.

There's the solution. we won't actually anex any other countries... but internally in america we'll just call them all "eagleton" and "America's Hat" and "Dirty land where everyones trying to get into america from".
