Pelosi is going to try something in 2026? Sorry for being rude, but very few old people preserve sanity at that age, let alone intelligence.

I don’t think it’s mean. There’s a reason we have a federal retirement age, and I think it’s stupid that we don’t apply it to elected and appointed officials.

There’s a reason we have a federal retirement age

Yeah, so that employers can't force people to work beyond that age.

Cool. I wonder which member of the Puppet Party will win that primary to go on to automatically lose in the general election?

[–] [email protected] 6 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

He can win the primary, but the DNC would still put forward Pelosi for, uh, reasons.

[–] FlyingSquid 7 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

It doesn't matter who wins or loses a Democratic primary anymore. They are not a real political party anymore. The U.S. is a one-party state now.

And anyone who doesn't believe that, explain to me why the Republicans would willingly give up any of the three branches of government they now control.

Dude I'm with you, I swear they're speed running a collapse, it's mental.

How y'all adjusting to the UK?

Other than still not being employed, I like it here a lot. I just really, really need a job above a specific income threshold to keep my kid here and bring my wife over.

this is hard man wish I luck.

how did u handle the visa? I thought on tourist visas you're not allowed to work. and on business/work visas you have to already have a job lined up.

unless u got a visa by seeking asylum. that's totally 100% valid given why u left ...

good luck man!

Thank you. I am a dual national thanks to the British Empire collapsing.

My wife and daughter need visas though, and I have to get a job above a certain income threshold for that.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

Is Labour still going on with rapidly increasing the income thresholds?

[–] FlyingSquid 1 points 18 hours ago

It wouldn't shock me. It's £29,000 as of 1 January this year.
