Agreed. I would love an option for a one time purchase. I can't do any more subscriptions, it's already hard to keep track of the few that I do have.
I feel ya. I sprung for ultra since I want to support the developer. Maybe a pro one time payment is coming in the future.

the app feels really premium than any lemmy app I tried but the ads are a deal breaker for me. I would definitely consider purchasing it to support the developer but I can't pay monthly just to browse lemmy. Sticking with voyager for now
Dawson has said that he is currently working on a one time and removal option, so you probably won't have to wait too long.

I've been waiting for sync to be ready on lemmy and installed it as soon as it was. I got an ad preferences thingy and thought "fuck it, the guy got sync of the ground for lemmy in just a few weeks" worth Β£15.99 for the annual sub to ultra IMHO. Been using sync pro on reddit for years of the back of a tiny one of purchase. I figure for the hours I used it, he deserves more than I paid and I'm more than grateful that sync is back.
Can I ask where you're seeing ads? I'm using Sync now, and I haven't seen any. What sort of ads are showing?
Are you in the EU? I was curious and I don't have ads in Europe.
i have them but half of the time is just a gray box. I'm in the EU
I'm using Infinity now. I was a sync pro user and the ads, tracking and subscription are a nope to me as well
Sync Pro is back now. At a bit of a premium, though, 15β¬ IAP.
Which is okay imo. For that the app will probably be maintained for a long time.

I am using it right now. Moments ago I was reading a post on a DnD community and had to do a double take, it felt like I was on Reddit, but it was just a bout of nostalgia after years of using Sync for Reddit.
The familiarity, the gorgeous material UI, but now with 100% less spez!!

It really is uncanny. I've gone back to the official app a handful of times but the experience is so much worse.
This is a great experience for Lemmy and I hope this will encourage more people to start using the platform.
It's like having Reddit back, this is amazing. π
For as long as I can remember Reddit and Sync have been one and the same. I never used Reddit website or app, only ever used Sync to browse Reddit hosted content. I used it a lot. I've missed it a lot.
Between the Lemmy platform and Sync client, to all intents and purposes what Reddit was has been fully restored/migrated.
I know it's early days, but I did not expect to see anything like this so soon and it gives me hope that Lemmy can grow and thrive into the network of people that always made Reddit what it was. Everything that's needed is there - early, a little rough around the edges, but there. And being improved constantly.

Only a month and a half using other apps for lemmy has made me forget how great sync is.
I donβt know what sync for lemmy is. And at this point, Iβm afraid to ask!
Sync for reddit was a great 3rd party app for browsing reddit. Since 3rd party apps were ousted from reddit the dev repurposed his app for Lemmy. I've been using it today and so far it is fantastic. There are some ads, but at the moment it's the best Lemmy app on the market as far as UI goes imho.

I'm definitely likely to buy permeant and free, or sync ultra lifetime... If it becomes my favorite app.
I was a long (long long) time Bacon Reader user, so I'm looking for something with a similar experience. So far Sync seems awsome!
