What a little bitch.
Big manly man Trump got whipped by a lady. A Jewish lady. A Jewish lady who's also Latina! If she was also black, it would be the perfect irony.
A community for discussing events around the World
Rule 1: posts have the following requirements:
Rule 2: Do not copy the entire article into your post. The key points in 1-2 paragraphs is allowed (even encouraged!), but large segments of articles posted in the body will result in the post being removed. If you have to stop and think "Is this fair use?", it probably isn't. Archive links, especially the ones created on link submission, are absolutely allowed but those that avoid paywalls are not.
Rule 3: Opinions articles, or Articles based on misinformation/propaganda may be removed. Sources that have a Low or Very Low factual reporting rating or MBFC Credibility Rating may be removed.
Rule 4: Posts or comments that are homophobic, transphobic, racist, sexist, anti-religious, or ableist will be removed. “Ironic” prejudice is just prejudiced.
Posts and comments must abide by the lemmy.world terms of service UPDATED AS OF 10/19
Rule 5: Keep it civil. It's OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It's NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
Rule 6: Memes, spam, other low effort posting, reposts, misinformation, advocating violence, off-topic, trolling, offensive, regarding the moderators or meta in content may be removed at any time.
Rule 7: We didn't USED to need a rule about how many posts one could make in a day, then someone posted NINETEEN articles in a single day. Not comments, FULL ARTICLES. If you're posting more than say, 10 or so, consider going outside and touching grass. We reserve the right to limit over-posting so a single user does not dominate the front page.
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

What a little bitch.
Big manly man Trump got whipped by a lady. A Jewish lady. A Jewish lady who's also Latina! If she was also black, it would be the perfect irony.
I don't see how this is a loss for trump. He got Mexico to do something he presumably wanted.
He didn't get what he wanted at all. He tried to look tough, the world pointed out he was shooting himself in the foot, then he backed down like a bitch.
If you think all he wanted was some national guard troops patrolling the border and that's all this was about, I don't know what to tell you.
Delaying something as big as tariffs by a month is not some kind of epic loss.
This is definitely not what happened. This was planned all along.
I'm not sure what the endgame is - it could just be a distraction from Musk's coup, it could be to manipulate stock markets, it could be to destabilize the west, but it's likely a combination.
You do know that the president of Mexico already revealed that he backed down like a little bitch, right?
I'm not seeing anything to that effect in that article. In any case, I'm not sure that would prove your point (or mine).
You think Trump would make that sort of concession about guns as a distraction?
It's amazing. If you paid attention to people on Lemmy, literally everything the Trump administration does is a distraction and can be dismissed. You guys will still be saying that when they start putting people in ovens...
I'm saying this as a warning and that we shouldn't be dismissive about what just happened - because there could be something more sinister going on.
You seem to be the one wanting to ignore things, not me.
I don’t see how this is a loss for trump. He got Mexico to do something he presumably wanted.
Businesses like predictability. Even if something is going to be expensive in the future, businesses are okay with that as long as they know its coming and can plan/make changes. What trump did was the exact opposite. He introduce uncertain and has lost trust with the largest businesses in the world.
Some of his biggest supporters and enablers and big business. He just dropped his pants and took a shit in their backyard with this.
I knew Mexico and Canada would blink first (well, Canada hasn’t yet, but it’s a matter of time).
Now the bully thinks that he can wave his favorite toy (tariffs) around and get whatever he wants. Mexico had a ton of leverage in this situation. Where does most American produce come from this time of year? Where are so many cars manufactured that are destined for the US? That’s right, it’s Mexico.
Canada may hold out longer than you think. "Go fuck yourself Trump." seems to be the prevailing public sentiment.
So say we all
Especially with an election on the horizon. Any party campaigning on capitulation is going to be radioactive to most voters.
But politicians are just gonna campaign on fighting against Trump just to get votes, and then turn around and capitulate anyway.
The only source in this article is Trump saying this is what happened. Don't trust what Trump is saying directly. He's already previously mislead to make it seem like other countries caved when they really did almost nothing
Sadly other news sources reported it. Dumb move from Mexico that will give the orange bully more power over them and others.
That's missing what I'm saying
They're giving Trump's spin in reporting inadvertently or not
They're not providing context for how much of a change (or not) Mexico actually is making
They are reporting Mexico sending 10k troops to border.
And note it doesn't say additional troops nor note how many are already there
I'm not sure how many are currently there but they've previously had higher numbers. Like in 2019 they sent 15k
Is it really dumb? The tariffs hurt both sides. Things will be much more expensive for us, and because they are more expensive, less of Mexican things will be bought. When Mexico uses retaliatory tariffs, same thing happens, bit this time in reverse.
Everyone loses.
I knew Mexico and Canada would blink first
What are you talking about? Mexican president always signalled that her country is ready to cooperate to fight cartels.
It is Trump who blinked - he delayed tarrifs he wanted to intruduce to appease his fascist voter base.
It’s all a distraction while they seize the treasury. This is a coup
