looks absolutely epic, but just... warhammer+ :/
I really don't fancy subscribing for literally one show what MIGHT get few episodes once a decade or so.
Negativenancy and all that.
And the other problem is that it's so unpopular, even "offline archives" are hard to find.
W+ is insane, isn't it? Essentially they want us to pay money for the privilege of watching episodes of a show that are really just 15 minute ads for minis. These things should be on YT for free with ads.
I'm a bit two minds about it. On one hand, yea, they are essentially ads for the franchise, but on the other: looks like it's (probably) high quality and high effort content for the grimdank world I know and love.
What I have issue with W+ is that basically none of the content currently on the service interests me, and for sure I'm not subscribing to a service for ONE SHOW, which (almost guaranteed) will drip feed the episodes - however many there might be.
Would I be down to pay one time fee and just get it on dvd/bd/mp4/whatever? Absolutely. Is it going to happen? Absolutely not, gw would probably consider it heresy.
And I'd rather not go to "rogue traders' sites" for it.
Astartes and the other high end "animated" shorts being made communicate one thing that the 40K universe does better than anyone else and that is that Its brutal cgi fight porn, it can be made cost effectively and we WILL WATCH. They can recycle stories they own from the black library, pay voice actors peanuts because Space Marines dont emote and all sound the same, no sets, no music to licence...
I dont need a complex plot, just make me John Wick with space marines.
The real value of Warhammer+ I see is in their Warhammer Vault. Imagine having all the previous lore and White Dwarf articles easily readable, tagged, and searchable based on the content. That would be worth the subscription full-stop.
The tech exists, they just need to invest in revamping it. It would be amazing.
Looks awesome. I wonder what format it will take. Single episode? Mini series? Interesting they called out that none of the footage was from the show. Hopefully there’s more where that came from.
There's no way this is a single episode. There are so many events being shown in the trailer alone that it wouldn't make much sense for it to only be 30-50 minutes long. At least IMO.
