Seven months after the Supreme Court struck down a deal that would have resolved thousands of opioid cases against Purdue Pharma, the company’s owners, members of the Sackler family, have increased their cash offer to settle the litigation — but with a novel catch.

Under the framework for a new deal, the Sacklers would not receive immunity from future opioid lawsuits, a condition that they had long insisted upon but that the court ruled was impermissible.

Instead, they would pay up to $6.5 billion — $500 million more than the previous agreement — but with a new condition: Claimants, including states, municipalities and individuals, would have to set aside as much as $800 million in an account akin to a legal-defense fund for the billionaires to fight such cases, according to people familiar with the negotiations

So, they admit culpability but only if government pays for their defense?

Well if we're not gonna let them have immunity from future lawsuits, the least we can do is pay to defend them from the lawsuits we bring.

/S if it wasn't fuckin obvious.

Sacklers should get the firing squad.

Give them the same war chest drug traffickers are given.

Why are they negotiating with terrorists? Jail their asses

Tarred, feathered, shame walked for 20 miles without shoes, then drawn and quartered.

Technically, their defense in future cases, not this one

Really just sounds like paying $300 million less.

The Sacklers need an attitude adjustment.

An altitude adjustment I'd say. Off with their heads!

Yeah we killed a shit ton of people but we shouldn't lose our fortune over that!

The fucking balls. After killing so many people for greed, they want the same people who's family members and friends they murdered to fund their lawsuits against? The fucking ghouls.

Ya'll pay for that shit. I wish I could make them go into every single lawsuit personally to face these families. I just think they're so despicable. They knew people trusted their doctors, and they've forever tainted that relationship for greed. And they never stopped until forced. They knew what they were making from the jump. And for fucking what? For money (something they already had) , that they now don't want to spend on their own defense? Because they shouldn't have to pay for their own defense???? Like, are you fucking insane?

Not only that, YOU WANT THE GOVERNMENT TO HAVE A ACCOUNT JUST FOR YOUR FAMILY!? Haven't ya'll done enough? We don't have health care, housing, good schools, or even clean water in some areas, but you want a rainy day fund, just in case. You are literally offering billions. Maybe you should save some of that blood soaked money to pay for it, you fucking abominations.

Absolutely vile, vile family. Absolutely understand the name "Sacklers" because they really are sacks of shit.
