Kids aren't being taught how to read, use a computer, or math. Now they're not going to be taught at all through grades 4-8? I imagine if the parents are involved, it may do something, but what about kids with working parents? Whose going to make sure they're actually retaining information? It's kind of fucked up that they'll be reintroduced into the "normal" system, and possibly be severely behind kids who had to go to class everyday.

Even made up women can't escape the patriarchy! /s

No. My mom has always worked holidays, and so have I (once I was old enough). We would celebrate around it, but pulled back as I got older. I'm at a job that's just closed this holiday, and it's just a day off for me. 🤷🏿‍♀️

It's never "so much sympathy" for a killer cop, or genocide, but one CEO is just a step too far.

Talking of course would have been better, but I have a sneaky suspicion that this was not the first time she brought it up. I think the first one, he didn't "care," and she thought making it seem more serious would prompt some action. I think she was hoping it would be a catalyst for talking/change and not just, "Well, it's been swell." Like, ma'am, he doesn't care. You told this man you fell out of love with him and he didn't seem to care. Then you present him with divorce papers and he signs them willingly, as well as saying that the bond is broken. You ran out crying because he's said very clearly that he doesn't care, doesn't want to "fight" for you, and did not react at all from the first time you brought it up until you gave him the papers. No "Oh my god, are you serious?" or "Can we talk?," hell, he didn't even bring up his own grievances. So now you take a nap on the couch, debating on uprooting your life for someone who at least seems vaguely interested in you, or staying with someone who is seemingly indifferent to you and your grivenances as he's like "lol, women are so weird" on the internet.

Again, not saying her actions were the most rational, but humans aren't always rational. Sometimes our emotions get the best of us and we just want to know that our presence matters, and that sometimes leads us to make mistakes. Sad for them both.

Can we stop having school shooters and make this a trend instead? 🙏🏾

Many defendants arrived at the hearing with their bags packed ready for prison. One of them was in tears as he hugged his companion before entering the courtroom.

Aww, boo fucking hoo. 🖕🏾

Okay, but it does look good. I don't even know if there's ice in there, but it looks crisp.

I use it for ideas and references. Back when I drew, it was a great source for models. Also nice for projects. They have a plethora of patterns for crafting, not to mention just straight inspiration if you're looking to design pretty much anything. I don't use it to just look at pictures, I go to it looking for something specific.

Same here. I'm actually forcing myself to stop. It's expensive and I get high for shorter and shorter times. I'm trying to make it to spring, but we'll see.

What a fucking loser.

Yes. I get sweaty and kind of panicky. I usually do curbside pickup for thjs reason, but if I have to go, I plan out my path and keep my head down.

Where do people dance? (self.nostupidquestions)

I was scrolling and saw this video of people dancing, showing different moves throughout the years, including recent ones. I know people "dance," like, generally move to a beat, but, like, having moves and stuff, where do you do that? Is the idea to ease the moves into your own dance "repertoire?" As in, do you expect to see people milly rock, like unprompted?

Could Linux save my laptop? (self.nostupidquestions)
submitted 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) by 2ugly2live to c/nostupidquestions

This past weekend, my laptop decided it's had enough and has given me the blue screen of death. I've put it in recovery mode, tried to reinstall windows, the works, and it refuses. I have no idea why. I was logged on, looking something up, and it went kaput. I wasn't downloading anything, the computer was in it's sleeve prior, not too wet, cold, hot, etc. Battery is fine, the laptop it's self is maybe two years old.

My understanding is that Linux is a kind of system that you download the components to a USB or what not and then install it on your machine. Is that something I could do in this case? Or do I need to take it somewhere?

Edit: it seems I may have to check if it's a hardware problem. The error code is Bad_system_config_info, but it changed to something else at one point but I didn't write that one down. :(

They put out this shelf and I want it, but I don't want to seem strange? It would make a nice plant shelf, but it's not something I can scurry away with, so people would see me while I carried it. Is that a bad thing to do?

EDIT: Never mind. Someone beat me to it. 😭

When I adopted her she was 21 pounds and I had to use a small dog carrier. She's now at a healthy 13 (she's long).

Another photo of her from her chonk days:
