I love the strands of spider silk in the last panel.

[–] [email protected] 40 points 1 month ago

Wow I totally missed that the first time. Subtle detail.

New nightmare fuel unlocked: invisible spiders

[–] wabafee 26 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (4 children)

If they are invisible what is to be afraid of now? Ain't the only reason we're afraid of them cause they look horrible?

[–] [email protected] 31 points 1 month ago

Well, except for a few species where their venom is what's more terrifying, that's generally true. This also hopefully makes them more effective at capturing insects, which is the main reason we want them near us.

Well, enjoy the tickling sensation on your face when you’re in bed. You can’t see what it is so you should be fine.

You know "the average person eats 8 spiders per year in their sleep" urban legend? It's sort of true, most people don't eat any but there's one guy named Rick in Columbus who eats thousands so the numbers are skewed.

Apparently that was a social experiment to see how many people would believe it.

Which is kinda fucked cause it messed me up when I was too young to understand that adults don't always know what they're talking about. For years, I would go to bed with the top sheet wrapped over my mouth so spiders couldn't get in. For some asshole's social experiment.

Even if they are not deadly poisonous, their bites are still annoying af.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I was referring to their soft little paws, spiders have best feetsies (eg https://uk.pinterest.com/pin/137993176077720094/ )

[–] jaybone 4 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Yeah, I’m not clicking that.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Same. I'll almost always click the link. I was forged in the fires of the pain Olympics as a preteen, I can deal with just about anything. An old employer used to pay me extra to watch autopsy videos during my lunch break.

But spiders? Nope.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 1 month ago (2 children)

They really are cute feetsies. I am not pulling your legs here.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 month ago

Okay, that's pretty cute. Except for bottom right. Lol

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago

(sorry for reddit pic, but it was a nice collection)

[–] Bytemeister 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Come on it's safe, trust me.

Source: I have 2 Regal jumping spiders as pets.

Really though, they are very cute. Sometimes I'll find the bigger one chilling out in her sleeping bag with just her toes poking out, it's adorable.

You people need help.

I heard that someone once said along the lines that the biggest fear is actually about things you expect to see and/or happen. That's why horror games/films are so scary

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago

I’m not sure I’ve ever felt primal fear so much as when I feel something crawling on me. Often seeing it lessens that fear bc I can deal with it. Not seeing it increases the fear.

[–] Schal330 26 points 1 month ago

Ahhh that finally explains why the spiders have items on them when you kill them

[–] perviouslyiner 15 points 1 month ago (2 children)

(Satisfactory with the arachnophobia option enabled)

[–] tpyo 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

How does satisfactory do it? I haven't checked out that one's Arachnophobia mode. A game I played replaced spiders and other "creepy" mobs with generic blobs

I was watching some video of some game (so specific, I know..) where the Arachnophobia mode replaced the mobs with GIANT pictures of a cat face that ended up being a bit terrifying in of itself

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Yeah the giant cats are satisfactory. It's honestly even more terrifying: https://youtu.be/jcAbYczBgsU

Imagine walking face-first into an invisible spiderweb

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

A regular spiderweb is pretty hard to see? I do this all the time...

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago

Yeah but like a big, thick one

[–] webpack 6 points 1 month ago

fun fact: in Minecraft on hard mode, spiders can have a small chance to spawn with potion affects applied, one of them being invisibility (however their eyes are still slightly visible)

[–] Rooty 5 points 1 month ago

Throwing potions at mobs in Nethack be like;
