The black sun.

It was a 2 minute meme filled, wojack standin video with a pumped up soundtrack and a bunch of narrative driven right wing imagery and news pieces flashing across the screen.

The black sun comes in at the end of the video for a good 10 seconds, with an image of desantis front and center at a podium, armed men marching to his left and right, a spinning black sun superimposed behind his head in an obvious postive call out to hitler.

Yes, it was that bad.

The fired guy is a darling of the far right which is why the desantis campaign hired him as a speechwriter. He has been on literal nazi Nick Fuentes podcast, where he praised him and talked about how women should not be allowed to vote.

So yeah, this isnt an "oopsy." This was fully intentional, by a guy that desantis knew was a shithead, but wanted on staff anyway.

And here I was, ready to comment that the symbol in question probably isn't known as a Nazi symbol by most and thus it's possible the guy didn't know what he was posting, but...yeah, looks like he absolutely did. I don't understand why these Neo-Nazis are dumb enough to associate their preferred politicians with their own Nazism. Assuming you want them to win, it's not very smart.

Yeah that's not a red and yellow disc that resembles a sonnenrad. That is a sonnenrad.

Of course he was - I'm sure it was understood and accounted for when he was hired that his job was to promote DeSantis to the Nazis, and if/when some shit hit the fan, he would be very publicly fired.

I'm sure it works just like police brutality firings, and he'll just get hired by a neighboring campaign.

"I'm not saying you're racist. I'm saying all the racists believe you are"

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago

"Also, you're a racist."

Ahh so they're saying the quiet part out loud now.

[–] kescusay 13 points 1 year ago

It's a good thing. Makes identifying the actual fucking Nazis like DeSantis easier.
