I’m a recently diagnosed type 1. I just got my first continuous glucose monitor about a week ago. I’ve been learning a lot with it, including seeing how many different foods I eat cause my blood sugar to change. One thing I’ve found is that popcorn works quite well to stabilize my blood sugar, particularly when I am in “free fall” from a spike.

What types of food have this effect for you?

If you are trying to prevent a low, any simple carbs will have the same effect to stop a fall. Popcorn might work, juice is faster.

Broader stabilization in my opinion is achieved via exercise and portion sizing at meals.

Be sure to adjust your basal rate from fasting measurements and carb ratios based on cgm trends.
