I’m a recently diagnosed type 1. I just got my first continuous glucose monitor about a week ago. I’ve been learning a lot with it, including seeing how many different foods I eat cause my blood sugar to change. One thing I’ve found is that popcorn works quite well to stabilize my blood sugar, particularly when I am in “free fall” from a spike.

What types of food have this effect for you?

My advice is to always follow your high glucose treatment to prevent a hypo (let's say glucose tablets, juice, whatever you take) with some longer lasting carbs (with an appropriate amount of insulin once your blood glucose is within safe levels). That helps me to stabilize the rollercoaster of too high and too low levels that often follows a hypo.
