Man I missed the acceptable trend of hardware buttons.

I'm thinking of getting a uconsole for this very reason.

Oh, boy, to have my Moto Droid with new hardware inside.

Oh man, the first android phone! That was a fun phone, and the droid from Verizon.

Yes! I have two of those as well, but tried to keep the post simple. It blew my mind how tiny all these once cutting edge phones were in comparison to my Pixel.

The second one is the G2 also a T-Mobile phone made by HTC

My wife and I both had the G2. I loved it so much! I feel like the foldable phones coming out may someday give me the same feeling.

The only phone I have owned previously I would like to have again in modern times is the Danger Hiptop AKA the Sidekick.

Surely they could make something more or less exactly the same, but runs on Android? I like the way the screen slid open but I especially loved the physical keyboard and scroll wheel.

I doubt mine powers up anymore but I do still have my original sidekick. The flip open is so fucking satisfying. It never wore out.

It was so great to have that keyboard I could touch type on. Swipe typing on Android is okay but it's not something I can do without looking and correcting.

Yes! I had the Sidekick 2 and 3G, unfortunately that was before I started hoarding my gadgets. They did make an Android Sidekick but it was underpowered and they turned the keyboard into a slider. I would absolutely sell my firstborn for a well done updated Sidekick.

Sidekick is still one of the G.O.A.T.

I miss the E7 as it was maybe the most beautiful phone I’ve seen, I’ll never forgive Microsoft for buying out Nokia leaving us without the n950

I had the HTC Desire Z, which I believe was essentially the EU version of the G2. What an absolute banger.

Absolutely hands down my favorite phone I've ever owned. And thanks to XDA I was able to keep it running long past its prime. Would absolutely kill for a modern update.

I still miss the keyboard on my G1.

[–] alekwithak 5 points 1 month ago

Truly. Physical keyboards will always reign superior in my opinion.

Every goddamned day, seriously.
