You're kidding, but look up the first "successful" seat ejection from a standstill. The cockpit was designed so badly that the steering wheel or w/e actually hooked on the release trigger for the ejection seat, ejecting a pilot while still on the ground. Ahh, those Russians.

I thought about your comment more than I care to admit, but my conclusion is that in this case it is probably not likely because of the cost of the plane.

I know it’s just a transport aircraft but $4.5m seems like a pretty square deal for a military plane.

That's a pretty arbitrary figure. Neither is that thing available on any sort of free market, nor does anybody have any idea how much it would cost to replace.
