I split a family with three other people. Makes it much more economical

YouTube TV never seemed to be a great value.

I love my OTA HD HomeRun. It's a bizarre name for a networked TV tuner with no monthly fee. Every device in the house can get broadcast TV channels because of that one box attached to a big antenna in the attic.

It's great while it lasts. Broadcasters have locked down the next version of broadcast TV (atsc 3) with DRM.

It was at first. I remember starting it at $40 like, 10 years ago for the super bowl. It was so convenient, just paid 40 to watch it, then cancelled. There were no ads at the time either, so when the networks played ads it just had a little animation.

Of course they killed everything good about it. Twice as much, ads, I believe they're eyeing commitments too. So it's just cable. In face I'm pretty sure cable is CHEAPER now.

They have to pay for that NFL contract somehow.

And certainly not with the umpteen billions they already have

Are you suggesting they reduce shareholder value? For the sake of their customers?

Sacrilege!

My suggestion was bad, and I feel bad

I found a decent IPTV service instead that provides a m3u. I was previously using sling TV and other subscriptions. Saves a ton of money, but reliability is a little lower.

May i ask how you got started with IPTV? I cancelled my YouTube TV and have seen it mentioned but got overwhelmed finding a provider :/

There's some decent providers listed on https://lemmy.opensupply.space/c/iptv_subs

Quite a few services don't really go out of their way to advertise too much, as they could attract negative attention doing so. They rebroadcast paid material, usually using personal servers and cable/satellite subscriptions to do so. There's some legal liability with doing that, obviously. You'll want to find a service that has fast servers, the best way is to request a trial with them and download a player such as "IPTV smarters pro" and put in the server info and user/pass they give you. Give each service a shot, and see which one has the best "bang for your buck" in terms of reliability and affordability.
